It feels heavy and cold to touch ,which obviously is good thing, because it’s all metal construction.

And probably would resemble the real thing, if it wasn’t for the part magazine, but I’m not too fussed about this...(some would,however.)

First thing I noticed was front sights are plastic :eek:ldconfused: 

Being 4” barrel, really is for plinking coke cans etc...target pistol it’s not.

Now you can change between a 4” barrel to 6”, I would say the 6” could probably hold its own in a open sight competition out to 15 yard (not me btw)
 
That's what my Beretta 92FS and Desert Eagle (full size) and FAS 6004 and Air Venturi V10-GAMO Compact are specifically for open sights (NO CHOICE!). Try a Beeman P17 probably the best $30-$35 you will ever spend in a very accurate hand pinching (CAREFUL!!!) over-lever one pump pneumatic pistol that shoots almost like a match pistol.

try a HW75 out to 10 yards open sights is awesome ...

thats without using a red dot...

artemis Cp1 with red dot ragged clover leaf all day long...

my HW45 Black star I struggle with...

smith & Wesson revolvers should definitely be open sights only...

fas 604 was a awesome target pistol 10 yards rested 5 shots ragged hole...

my CP-88 comp was also a cool pistol...

HW40 was also very good pistol...

then there HW 97 walnut thumbhole CS 1000 that I won Springer championship...

Evo gas ram trigger was terrible, couldn’t hit barn doors...

and it goes on...

The only airgun pistol competition I know of conducted inside that distance is called Ten Meter, and the S&W 586 is not nearly competitive. Just ain't so. Those Ten Meter boys, like all airgunners shooting all types of airgun competitions, are not only enough more serious than the 'average' airgunner, and so afflicted by prevailing "money can buy performance" mentalities almost universal in virtually all competitions Man contests, but Ten Meter shooters are also among THE most... to avoid a more disparaging term, "equipment oriented". 

To lend perspective on my perspective, a quote from my fourth airgun book, Airgun Chronicles- Thirty Years of Airgun Testing And Competition is in order-

"The S&W Model 586 is a high-end plinker that exhumes quality with impressive heft and finish."

As evidenced by that quote, I liked my 586 a lot. But a competition gun it ain't. Any kind of competition that actually exists, that is.
