Those groups look like the shroud is clipping and maybe the frame is flexing. Can it be shot with out the shroud? IMO, the mere fact the barrel is suspended that far by that little of material in the receiver is always going to flex. How much does the barrel itself weigh? I cant imagine what the harmonics are doing?

No one knows the true accuracy of the hammer! Two slugs tell you nothing! Some guns are more ammo fussy than others.

With all respect that is due toyman you have spent many pages crowing about the Hammer and don't have one? We call that unsupported speculation around here.

We are still working on a good bullet for the Hammer. Too early to tell anything yet. I took my 510 cal gun out today and found a very accurate bullet. I am not sure if the tester shot that bullet although we did send it to him. Waiting to get a response from him. We will see if this other bullet is good in the hammer or not. It weighs 388 grains.

Well I do have one inbound. I have a few different slugs here. I have reamers and sizing dies plus a roller to put lube rings on swaged slugs to reduce bearing surface. I only deal in facts. I will be doing a full video review. If it sucks I'll show you. I have shot the Hammer and had no air blow in my face. It was a great experience seeing the actual production line. I'm actually the only person in the entire world who's shot the hammer and seen the production line and also shot Doug's custom 50 Airforce. It will take a few weeks to fit in the range time needed. I live next to a 100 yard indoor rifle range so we will see true no excuse of wind bench rest performance and it will be filmed.

I sat & watched every vid of people shooting the Hammer, if the Hammer blew air in your face that you could feel, your hair would also move up & back. I COULD NOT FIND ANY MOVEMENT IN ANY VIDEO OF ANY SHOOTERS HAIR MOVING IN THE SLIGHTEST, MANY WERE INSIDE RANGES.

So I heard from the tester and he said he did not shoot the 388 grain, very disappointed. I only sent him 3 slugs so to not shoot it was a bummer. When I shot that slug today in my converted Texan into a .510 it shot very well. I would like to see the Hammer shoot that slug since it is a proven slug in one platform. My custom barrel is a 1:32 twist .510 TJ barrel and shoots really good. Hopfully he will shoot it this weekend.

I shot one at the Texas airgun show a few years ago, and I dont recall any air blast in the face. My video is on YouTube...will have to rewatch it to see. It did have a pretty good kick for an air rifle..

Thanks for everyone's concern and interest. The Hammer is very accurate with proper use and the ammunition intended for the gun. Good shooters can get 1.5" at 100 yards. I personally shot a 6" group at 300 yards, which is a miracle for my old eyes.
Let's first understand the gun. The barrel is made by our factory in Ulm Germany. The bore is .504" and the groove is .510". The twist is 1:24". The .510 caliber is also known as 500 Linebaugh, 500 Nitro Express and 50 BMG. The ammo that is working very well in this barrel consists of 275g and 350g soft lead bullets made by Alco Bullets in Springfield Mo. They produce for us and these bullets are available at Pyramyd. They are very accurate. Another excellent maker of cast and sized bullets is Montana Bullet Works. They produce 300g to 550g bullets in .510" and they a right on the money. The best precision accuracy we have seen to date is with either of these maker's bullets from 275g to 350g. Note that the cast and sized bullets with grease grooves have a Brinell hardness of approximately 16, and shoot 4-5% faster than the soft lead. Accuracy is the same.
We are also working with Nielsen who makes excellent precision cast and sized bullets. These should be available shortly.These will be very accurate as well.
Note Accuracy Set Up: Both the Gauntlet and the Hammer share a barrel and shroud design. Hammer shrouds are composite for weight reduction and made in the USA.The Gauntlet shroud is steel and the gun is famous for accuracy at the price offered. This is because the barrel is pulled into tension when the shroud is made tight and unable to rotate. Therefore the barrel, which like all barrels subjected to harmonics when fired, experiences the harmonics the exact same way each time the gun is fired. When the Hammer is fired and the shroud is loose the group opens up and vice versa. Keep it tight.

Good point on the air. The Hammer has two areas of small vent slits on either side of the buttstock. This is because the Hammer valve is a bit different than most and under patent application. The design of the valve is unique in that it is not held closed by spring force which requires big cocking force and hammer force to open. It is held closed by air from the tank. A BB volume of air at 3000psi can hold back 8ci of air at 3000psi. When you pull the trigger you vent a tiny amount of air which dumps over 9ci of air in a microsecond. You can feel this tiny bit of air when shooting the gun. You can easily judge the speed of the dump of air by the feel of the recoil of the Hammer, which is pronounced. When you pull that trigger you get it all now.
There is other energy enhancing physics involved with the valve but we will save it for another day.
The Hammer has a patented linear chamber magazine. It function like a rotary magazine on a centerfire revolver, except it moves in a straight line. It seals on dynamic seals located on the rear receiver face and the barrel breech face. Like a revolver, some air(gas) escapes here when the gun is fired. Nothing new about that.
We are manufacturing and shipping now. We are making progress with monthly production numbers and hope to fill all backorders in the coming months. Anyone having questions is encouraged to reach out and please feel free to come by for a tour when you are in the area. We want to hear from you.

Tensioned barrel on the Hammer? That is way cool. Any other air rifles use that innovation?

If it is built like 3 piece moderators,you should be able to grasp the muzzle end cap and shroud at the same time and turn it tight.

It has been found that some shrouds are a hair short and thus will not tighten when the muzzle cap is tightened. We have a washer of the correct thickness to take care of it. PM me or ThorsHammer if you're experiencing this issue and we'll get it taken care of.
