Unreal permission part 2

I went back to the dairy tonight and shot at least 100 starlings, didn’t even make a dent. All shots were 15 yards and in to 10 yards there are some lights in the structure which helped immensely. I had a flashlight attached to the top of my front scope ring with a red filter, but I took the filter off and went after them with the white light. Saw many rats, but was concentrating on the starlings. I only had two hours, but I intend to go back tomorrow or Thursday and stay twice as long. Before I left at 7:00 pm I told the owner how many I shot and she was very happy. Best part is I don’t have to police up the kills. Can’t take any images as that is one of the requirements of the permission, I hope to get around that in the near future. The Compatto on low power was deadly.

I want to see a pic like this from you!!!

Good work, sir. You are on your way to legend-hood.

Only in my own mind. The shooting is easy, no real sport, the intent is too eliminate a large percentage of the flock. @Bob, this place is infested with vermin. Tonight, I saw the need for a bottle gun with lots of shots, I’ve never, ever had so many shots on pest birds. Tomorrow night I intend to double the hurt, but am switching to Crosman 14.3 premiers from the AA 16s, don’t need the premium pellets at such short range.

Is there a document on line somewhere for a permission?

There might be, what I do is speak to the owners, ask them if they need or would welcome some help eliminating pests. Be sure to emphasize that you won’t cause damage to property or livestock. Have a card with your information, references if any. Include any information you deem pertinent. Example, belonging to a sportsman’s club, community involvement, etc. Typically I’ve been given permission right away, this last place took three visits, the second visit was with cookies baked by my wife using butter from their cows.😏 Third time was the charm. Good luck, it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Went back this evening after work, got there at 6:30 pm stayed until 8:00 pm, I took 170 shot, 140 something starlings, 3 rats. I won’t be going back until next week. Not much sport in it as the shots are extremely close range. I was feeling a little conflicted killing so many critters, but the place is infested so I went at it. All the starlings fall into the mucky pens, I don’t have to police them up.

You won’t as I don’t have to gather them up. If I did I don’t think I would as enthusiastic to shoot them. Haven’t had many opportunities for starlings around here during the day a few shots they all leave. I’m lucky in that I get to pest, but the documenting you do is on a whole other level, inspirational and appreciated.

That's a lot of shooting!!

True that there isn't much sport in the close shots, especially when they're mostly just sitting there like when I shoot them at night. But it does take a little bit of skill and the right equipment. And there's a huge risk when there are cows and other animals around, so a huge level of responsibility. And it's a job that needs to be done and there aren't many guys doing it.

Keep at it buddy!
