Update to Classifieds thread needed!!!!

It would be nice if the current classifieds worked the same way as the old forum format. When items get sold/found/nla'd they should be removed from the current page and archived. Postings that used to be within the first 5 pages after a week are now 15-20 pages back and never get seen. The current policy of "Re-Newing" a post at 2 weeks is too little too late with the current format. If you're going to keep the current format atleast relax the re-new policy to 5 days.

Some kind of way to filter by the "Classified Status" bar to hide "sold" listings would be great.

Did a lil' legwork & found a Xenforo platform add-on that enables thread filtering using custom fields (which is what the "Classified Status" bar appears to show).

It isn't free - but it is a $70 solution (for the first year; $40/yr renewals). I think there's a free 7 day trial to test it out.

Here's a live demo showing how multiple filters can be used at the same time.

The Thread Filter is featured in the webpage sidebar and should enable filtering by "Classified Status" along with a customizable date range, etc.

I like your idea to remove/filter via sold tags. I see what you posted, do you have an IT background? Cheers!

Classified section does not really need any new addons, it just needs some finetuning with basic Xenforo functionality already built in.

- make thread prefixes clickable so any user can only look at just the for sale ads or just buy ads or just trade ads.
- force users to always select a prefix when making a new ad (for sale, buy, trade etc)
- let the users delete their own ads after succesful sale etc. No need to show "the all sold" ads.
- automatically delete ads after.. say 3 months.

Thats how I have done it at my sites, works pretty darn well.

PJ,
No official IT background— just an endless curiosity for how things work & great friends willing to give a little guidance and industry-specific keywords for productive research. :)
I don't like it when people complain without offering ideas. I don't have any experience with the Xenforo platform so I did a bit of research.

I really like these ideas! I read about the thread prefixes (including a Multi prefix addon. That said, if improvements could be made by tweaking the current platform without incurring needless expense for AGN, I'm all for that! As someone new to the hobby, I like having the old classifieds to search for historical pricing, but 3 months is probably enough of a recent history to be useful.

I'm going to defer to @Rai as someone with experience on the platform. Any chance you could show a few screenshots and/or share a few "knowledge base" threads for the mods to view the suggested changes? I've learned that if someone makes it easy & shows me how to do something it has a better chance of getting done!

You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once because you sounded like you were well versed in the topic. :)

Good research on the topic. Cheers.
