OK . . . . okey dokey. I got me a shooter AND I can (apparently) shoot those FX slugs that I bought a few months ago that my AA just doesn't have the giddy-up-go for. After getting to briefly shoot it yesterday with jsb 16's I could already see the potential that this thing has and thought about pulling the trigger on grabbing a couple of tins of 18's as they are widely said to be this guns favorite. ( I had Tony tune it for me to 16's as I'm sitting on a small pile of them as thats all I've ever used with the AA ) so driving home from work today I thought ".... I wonder if it'll sling those FX's? From what I've read all you do is turn the hammer in via those two pin holes in the back - ala m-rod . . . "
I get home, slip 10 of the FX's into it, go into the spare room I have upstairs here where my chrony is and a big honkin' pellet trap and shoot one over it - yeah - 700's - I figured as much as it's tuned pretty closely to the AA. I give the hammer a turn ( +1 ) - shoot - 825. ( ) I give it another turn ( now +2 ) - 910! ( me really smiling ) lol I give it a THIRD full turn ( +3 ) - it won't cock. Rah roh . . . . . I back it off a half turn - now it cocks. Shoot - 930. I empty the mag - average is 925 @2.5 turns from where it was originally tuned.
It's really overcast and grey out - it's gonna rain. I head out now really quick, setup at my homemade bench and just using the bipod ( no sandbag ) I fling one down at a target on the far end of my back yard out at 57 yards. ( as far as I can go from on the deck ) I got in 4 shots before the rain started coming down. Shot #1 - a little wide to the left - no biggie - adjust the scope accordingly, shot #2 -- adjust it in more to the right - shot #3 - booyah!! I pulled shot #4 as the rain started pelting me - but I'm a happy camper.
I'm going to test / try out those nsa 17.5g's tomorrow - they should cook! The FX's are 22g I believe. I'd like to find something right at 20g maybe . . . the deal with slugs / best performance with them is generally regarded as being on the plus side of 950 - yes?
( the shot to the lower right that is "X"d out from something earlier - not this series of shots )
