So I am looking at possibly getting a Uragan gen 1 compact in 177 for backyard fun and slaying a few wasps here and there.
I have done a lot of reading on this so thinking Gen 1 due to the balanced valve (Uragan 2) not being conducive for low power use.

I have read all the caveats on the hose issue.

What else can all you first gen buyers tell me about them?

Anyone pushing power down sub-12 ft lb or preferrably sub-10 ft lb.?

Any other long term issues?

Maybe Lame. But I have less lame covered.
I have other air rifles to fill the more powerful aspect. Like a .22 Crown set for 33 ft lbs and a King in 22 that shoots at 80 ft lbs.
Or my RAW .30 cal that I sold.
Somethings are more neighbor friendly where I dont have to worry about a pellet skipping off of water as an example.
Or sending metal silhouettes sailing 15'. LOL

Well since I don’t feel like doing backwards math or live in a country with fpe restrictions, I prefer to talk numbers and pellet weights. I never tried a 7.3 or 8gr pellet out of my U2. But they would be screaming at 90b. Not enough to send anything metallic flying 15ft but it sounds like you’d like an 8.4 in the 700-800 range. That would involve a 70ish bar reg setting. My shot count was fantastic at 90b so it would be incredible at 65-70b. But I don’t know what the regs basement setting is. Did you do any sniffing around on the UK forums to see how low any of those guys turned it down?

The hose issue is really not a thing..It looks like it might be when you 1st see it, but I have never had a problem in the 2 Ive had or the single compact I have now. One thing is for sure..The gen 1 triggers can be set to outstanding without any spring changes, etc... just knowing how to do it & an allen key. It's an unusual sear set up but a damn good one !!! My gen 1 has stayed while many many of everyones favorite latest & greatest have rolled thru here. If you every did have a problem Derick knows them inside & out. I have never got a straight answer if gen 2 has same trigger set up as 1. I suspect not.. I have only had to replace a single oring at the check valve. Tricky to get to that one..but I survived. Accuracy without flyer's is the top reason mine won't go anywere. trigger right behind that....Ergo 3rd

Yeah I have been reading just about everywhere I can find.

I understand what you are saying on fps vs. ft lbs.

Once I get decided what weight I want to use for a perticular rifle or pistol it is all about dialing in the fps.
ft lbs. just gives a broad coverage for different weights. I can be difficult to compare when someone uses 7.0 and another guy is using 13 gr but both are shooting 750 fps.

The one thread I read that discouraged me on the U2 is one by Motorhead.
Where he was trying to dial in a customers 177 U2 and he commented on the balanced valve not being ideal for a short barrel small caliber rifle.

But for higher energy usage which it sounds like you go for, it probably works well.

I am glad the triggers can be dialed in as I am a self professed trigger snob.
All my firearms receive a full action job.
So that part is concerning on Bullpups which are notorious for less crisp triggers.

And also great to hear about the hose.
If I get it, it will not get filled to 300 bar, to me that means each time you refill the gun from the tank your shot count is less than the last time.
I am good with doing 230 bar on most my guns leaving more refills off my tank before it is empty and less stress on components.
when I read about the hose issues I kind of thought maybe those who were having issues may be pushing the whole 300 bar.

I will know next week if I am going this route. It is what I want to do but there are a couple things that will weigh in on it.

I've had mine about 2-1/2+ years.
Haven't worked out the flbs, but my .22 Mod. I, shoots 18.1 gr. very well at about 800 fps.
Have had zero problems with the dreaded "hose", or any other leakage. I also thought that a better way to do that should have been thought of ! But again, no leakage problems.

I've used red dot sights, scopes, and prism scopes on it. I shoot offhand, so the additional weight of a scope aids in holding a steady aim. The photo below shows the gun with a prism sight on it.
I did do a little grinding / sanding on the bottom, of the front of the grip. Make room for more comfort for my little finger !

I haven’t had my Gen1 long (couple months), and it’s a .30, but I’ve spent a lot of time behind it both in the field and on the home “range”. I’ve got XXL hands too, and have no issues with the stock when field shooting.

I typically fill mine to about 290 bar, and shoot it down to about 200. I suppose if it were a .177 or .22 I’d back off a bit, but those big .30s require a lot of air.

I’ve been nothing but impressed with the Uragan.

Yeah I agree 30 cal can eat a lot of air. My RAW did.
It was better after being tuned but still a big jump from 22 or 177.

Yeah Mike is the first comment about sanding the bottom lip.
But if I need to go there it is not the end of the world as I frequently modify woodwork.

I am glad you brought that up.
I did read about this on the Uragan 2.
It sounds like it is a U2 issue from my readings it is pinging from I think it is the plenum from dumping all the air when the valve is opened.
I have also read there is a Depinger available may be worth investing for you.

Can you U1 owners comment if there is a pinging issue with the U1?

I notice a “ping” on all bullpup style rifles, probably because there’s a lot going on right next to my ear. I don’t think the Uragan’s “ping” is loud or obtuse in any way, but I’d guess folks will have varying opinions on that.

Listen for yourself…. Here’s a couple shots from the other day out of the G1 .30….

I have heard several people complain about the U2 ping. The later models have a depinger installed and the ping is less.


And hard for me to tell if my uragan compact OG does it as i have some hearing loss.
