N/A Uragan or Veteran

Considering next gun which of course I don’t need. Even today another is arriving, a kratos refurb from Airgun Revision. Still sorting out the zelos, revere, raw 1000, akela ( Airguns revision) , and Reximex pistol.

However the praise on this forum for the Taipan just MAKES me want one. But the very similar Uragan 2 ( would wait for 3) to me is much better looking and that does matter to me. The Uragan is also hundreds $ more. Both would be with 700 mm barrels.

I also realize somebody may post thoughts on a totally different gun or may see a review on u tube and turn my head in that direction. That wouldn’t be a bad thing either. I’ll admit it I want to desire these guns while I’m into this hobby.
thanks,
Mike

I have two original Veterans and a Vulcan. I can’t speak for the Uragan but the Vulcan has a very annoying ping even with the factory de-pinger installed. There is a reason that the Taipans receive such praise, they are that good. Like I said, I can’t speak for the Uragan but I can guarantee you that if you decide on a Veteran, you will not be disappointed.

Have a Taipan Veteran, Compact, and a Uragan Compact, gen 1, both in .22 .

I bought the Taipan...just...to see what the hype is all about.
Sorry, I don't see it. Is it a bad gun, no, I just don't see all of the supposed wonderfulness in it.

If I had to sell one...easy choice, the Taipan.

I like the Uragan 1. Have been thinking of getting the version 2, but...now that the version 3 is on the way, maybe I'll wait to see what the new differences are.

I assume you’re deciding between the Veteran 2 and the uragan 3. I’ve had both vet 2 and uragan compact. Vulcan 3 . All perform. No question there. The vet 2 is both tactical and standard version in 700mm barrel. Many different looks, cocking is way smoother than AGT , which is not bad, just feels clunkier. The Vet 2 may not be your cup of tea looks wise. To me it’s at least equitable to Vulcan 3 , uragan series can be considered more stylish. I’ll take a hit on looks for enjoyment of operation. For me, the vet 2 ADL is easy choice. IMHO, opinions will vary. Good luck 👍

Since our first guns of or youths which was about 14 and city kids 1972 I’d say we liked the fancier Montgomery Wards 22s .The introduction to guns for me was Christmas catalogs. We all got our licenses through a priest in our catholic high.
No at least I didn’t have to do anything extracurricular. My first gun was A Mossberg 500 12 gauge . $60 at a store called Allmarts in Colonie NY . I paid with paper route money my father trusted me enough to buy even though he wasn’t a gun guy..
Ok I just realized I’m posting about gun looks.. . It ties in
We all ( maybe 4 guys got the cheap but wonderful Mossbergs) had them but my gun had white line spacers !
it was bragging rights . In those days and shortly after the nicest guns we could think about were Brownings.
For us top of the line. Got a BL 22 lever action I still have. Deer hunting was just around the corner at 16 years old and i bought 308 BLR Belgium. That was 1974. Beautiful gun I sold to an exfriend a few years ago for cheap as I realized if I hunted anymore I want handloaded bolt action perfection.

so all this bul sh t I just spewed is about looks and a white line spacer on the butt and grip

I have three Uragan 2’s and one Taipan. I’m trying to think of how to put it simply and not have a long winded post. If you are all about power, Uragan 2. If you are all about a very nice shooting experience, Taipan. The Uragan does not ping like a Vulcan. But it makes a weirder noise than a Taipan. But hold the Uragan out in front of you like a pistol, it’s silent. Your choice should revolve around your thirst for power.

Mike that opinion really influences me ha ha ha your an Influencer.
seriously that statement matters. That and I do see no beauty in the veteran.
some guys have posted pictures of Uragans, not conventional but looks great.

No power thirst as no place to really use it. If I do get to my club range I’ll stick to 50 yards and if ok try 100. With my infrequentsey ( spelling) of going to range I’d have to bring many guns .no time for 200

They are all ugly to me. Bottle guns especially. But I don’t enter my guns in beauty contests. I kill stuff with them.

Had to edit. I will confess that when buying ugly ducklings I do care about their clothing. No plastic stocks when I have the choice of some at least nice looking wood.

The whole thing about killing things with an air gun puzzles me. In my yard it’s necessary. It’s especially necessary since the town put in an off-road bicycle trail behind house. In the past I had no problem shooting subsonic 60 g Aquila 22lr.
Not going to do that anymore. So the air gun comes into play. That’s what started my addiction.
If I was to go hunting whether small game … or no way deer. Unless there’s laws where you live that prohibits real guns
a 22 lr is inarguably a better tool.

I'll help! I've had all 3 and one of in my profile picture.

U2 compact
U2 700
Vulcan 3 .30 500

I had a vulcan 3 .25 700, it is now my buddies.

Agreed. The vulcan threes have a very loud ping. Most of that ping is removed when you flip the tube to work as air reservoir, instead of acting as a plenum.

Out of the box my u2 22 700mm was shooting twenty five grain slugs at nine forty, giving me well over a hundred shots. I turned the regulator one fifth of a turn up, and it was moving those same slugs at nine ninety five and still getting about eighty shots a fill.

My current v3 .30 500m will go through between seventeen and twenty bar for ten shots, and shoot 44.8gr atomics at 873 in 50 degree weather and 66gr aea pellets at 765ish fps. It's louder than my uragan 2, but it doesn't have a ping, so i'm in the works of getting a moderator for it, the agt works but I looking for better.

I loved my veteran standard 177. It wasn't the best for offhand shooting because of how blocking it is, but it's not bad. I've also shot my buddy's .25 taipan and more times than I can count, and it's just reliable and quiet. Not a whole lot of shots, but it will put it where you want it to.
