If ANYONE thinks this is because of videos on YouTube showing the power of our toys......your sadly mistaken and easily manipulated. Sorry, but there are people out there that HATE what we do and will do anything to get rid of it. Doesn't matter if it is airguns, bows, bicycles, or blowing bubbles. There will always be people who REFUSE to understand and allow others to have fun.

You see this in eveything. So to try and lay blame on a particular section is only going to hurt us a community.

Unless you purchased your airgun with a credit card from a dealer how would anyone know you owned one? Also we need to understand how lazy the people that work for the government are. They like to tell what we can't do or have but really who of them are really going to come after us if we just say NO!
WE THE PEOPLE

Do not underestimate the will of others to want to protect everyone from everything, regardless if you want that protection or not.
And for those people mo means are sacred, that's the worst part of that deal.
I call it dangerous empathy.
This sad trend hit my country years ago, and it have brought nothing good at all to anyone, and worst of all, everyone here are blissful unaware or even worse just do not care..

It is worrying too when some one just say their opinion, and it dont even setting fire under the forum, and its deleted.
I am 100 % OK with stopping things that get out of hand, but stopping things long before that, i feel is stifling.

These are the same people who come after PB weapons. They just found a new target.
Cede the ground of high power PCP’s and air guns capable of taking big game and they will come after what is left.
Why wouldn’t they? They won the last battle easily so move to the next.

Divide and conquer and fools are playing along blaming anyone who is not them. Splinter the large group and picking off the resultant smaller and weaker groups becomes easy.

This is what laying low and praying ”they” don’t notice results in. A soft target for the anti-everything crowd.

How do you think those people came to hate what we do and go after it? What lit the fuse on their tampons? Did they attend RMAC or EBR? Are they tired of EFT in their towns? I believe they got educated and fired up for free on YouTube. I could be wrong but we aren’t mainstream. Not like gun shows being advertised and several gun dealers in every town. We would still be invisible if there was no demand for videos. Trust me, I was in this invisible hobby for at least 35 years before something blew the lid off it. Every new guy on a forum asking questions brings up the video thing. Saw this in a video. Was convinced this was my next gun because of this video. Why can’t my gun do what Joe Blows gun does in a video. We can’t dismiss it just because we can’t stop watching.

Dear fellow airgunners,
I am writing to you tonight as nothing more than a very concerned airgun shooter.

It has come to attention that a VERY well funded, connected and influential group is actively and openly lobbying against airguns.

As the subject matter is indeed political in nature, I will not post the content or names here out of professional courtesy and respect for AGN and its members.

I urge all airgun shooters to please read my letter and response posted here:

I live in Illinois and can't buy any pellet rifle over 700 fps without foid card even though the law exempts .177 cal from the limit because state police says so

We need to stop talking and acting like cowards. Realize this is a mind control game. Geez should we all start wearing masks and lock ourselves down again.(n)
Maybe because I live in a rural part of a dark BLUE state and know there is nobody coming to save me if SHTF that I feel this way. I'm just glad that our county sheriff is sworn to the constitution. He will not enforce any of the gun control or covid mandates that the Karens on the other side of the state think are going to save them.(y)

Okay we all love our sport. Many of us shoot powder burners and air over the multiple sports. BB guns, yes even low energy bb guns kill people. Irresponsible, uneducated people do not have respect for guns let alone airguns. I googled "death BB Gun" and came up over 1 year timeframe and got 10 plus deaths. Then again 1 month timeframe a bicyclists and a homeless man both died in shootings.

So what is the balance? In the UK to have 12 FPE rule, FAC licence and have very much less deaths. The airgun community needs to work together for responsible ownership.

My other interests is children safety so this is a heart breaking to read any of these stories I read tonight, so airguns are guns. To this some soul searching is needed.
Thank you Charlie

Every hobby that others don't agree with will come under attack at some point. Pretty much all of my hobbies are being pounded on by someone or another. I hunt, trap, fish, metal detect. Might as well add airguns to the list. I can only golf so much at my age.
Until someone deems golf clubs deadly weapons 🙄

No good can come of comments like this. Your statement is really just “common sense” gun control disguised as self regulation.

Never give an inch, because that inch will never be enough to quench the insatiable thirst of the anti gun community. And as you can clearly see, they are NEVER satisfied.

I was not originally intending to reply to this thread I started, but after reading some replies and comments I’d like to make a few additional notes.

First off, thank you Michael and AGN members for keeping the thread open. AGN is a vital part of our shooting community. The responsibility and commitment of owning such a public forum is beyond commendable and admirable. As I mentioned in the letter, the real accolades go to the community for the self-policing of unethical or unsafe use of airguns and promoting the responsible use of airguns with equal emphasis on safety considerations.

As a footnote to the letter, it mentions only one particular group, but there are more that are using different angles and channels. The additional information I found while researching and monitoring this subject over the last few years will be available at agsaa.net.

Diversity of opinion is an asset and all perspectives need to be heard and respected to be represented. There should always be differing thoughts and opinions. As Gen. MacArthur once said, and I paraphrase, “If everyone is thinking the same way, somebody isn’t thinking.” The purpose of AGSAA is to represent all responsible airgun shooters’ interests.

We all realize an inevitable compromise will be made in an entirety or in an aggregate form, and that is the moment we should be concerned with. I am starting the AGSAA to prepare us for that day; to have all our voices heard in that legislative process.

Airguns will one day have to yield, but by how much?

That is the question to which we all have a rightful say and can influence and is why this thread and agsaa.net started.

We should keep doing what we are doing, and just a bit more to prepare for it. Keep shooting airguns safely and responsibly, keep growing the competitive airgun shooting sports, practice ethical airgun hunting, and work to improve our marksmanship abilities. Most of all, keep having fun and with some additional effort we can be in a position to keep as much as we can.

Thank you all for reading and for everyone's replies, comments and suggestions and again, thank you AGN for your support.

If you are interested in an administrative, leadership or supportive role, please contact me at [email protected].

I am afraid that big bore PCP airguns single shot and especially multi shot will be the first to be regulated as firearms with energy and caliber ratings for the remainder. Will happen fast if they are used "illegally". As those airguns will be grandfathered in, there will be rush to buy them and the ammo. We will get the sky high price increases like what is happening to the firearm and ammo prices. Thinking airgun manufactures should band together and hire a national lobbyist. However that could backfire and put us on the radar with the blue states who are seeking gun control legislation to gain political points to the gun control crowd. Blue state politicians may also demand concessions from the airgun community like power and caliber limits for any weak protections. Plenty of existing country and state regulations to use as a blueprint. Chipping away at our rights is what is happening with the firearm community like the AR ban and expanding the background checks. Wonder if the airgun community should merge with NRA but that could backfire as the blues state politicians have put a target on the NRA's back. Cannot think of any real effective solution to stop this political crap, only maybe slow it down.
