USARB Transition

Transition in leadership of USARB. Effective February 1, members of the current Board of Directors are resigning their positions, and have elected Mark Marini to replace them as director. After eight years of service, members Joe Friedrich, Robert Zimmerman, Craig Young, and Ron Silveira have concluded that a fresh perspective and influx of enthusiasm would be good for the future of the organization, and that Mark best provides those qualities.

Acting for USARB Directors

I really hope the USARB survives the transition... many of our rifles are built for 25 Meters or Yards, not 50, many of our pellets perform at benchrest accuracy at that distance. Accurate is built into a platform and platforms are designed to get a job done at a specific distance, A good 200 yard gun does not make a good 25 yard gun, and visa versa.

In powder burner Benchrest where I've spent the last 30 years of my life there are different organizations that do Group and Score, and within those organizations there are "Point blank" 100-300 yds. shooters, and "long range" 600-1000 yds. shooters. I see the EBR, and N50 concentrating on the longer distance game, leaving the "point blank" game behind. It's possible for guys to have multiple rifles built for the multiple games without cancelling the existence of one game or another.

In the IBS at the annual membership meeting we always had both sides of the game attending and coming to agreements on match scheduling to not over book for big matches... for instance, the 1000 yard or 600 yard nationals never were in the same week or weekend as the 100-200, or 200-300 nationals. For the sake of the shooter that likes both games, I hope we can work together so 25M or yard does not disappear. Also the NBRSA, and IBS have close range and long range within the same organization... just because you shoot 50, or 100 doesn't mean your organization has to overlook the 25M game.

Mike is correct, USARB did not want to take up the 50 yard discipline. I believe Mark will bring USARB back to life, it has been stagnant for years.

We host both USARB and N50 at the same matches, they work very well together. We have actually grown with new shooters.

Personally just purchased a couple of used Thomas HV rifles to be used in 25m competition, if interest attracts a new shooter there is equipment for them to give it a go.
