USFT Tuner/Mods?

I remember a few years back hearing about a tuner/airgunsmith who was located in the California foothills (perhaps Shingle Springs?) who did a good job of sorting out the USFT. I have an early Hunter benchrest model (SN 11X) which hasn't been used in a few years. I have been taking a break from shooting after the passing of my shooting partner and mentor. I was never blown away by my USFT's accuracy and heard this gentleman was good at tuning them, but I lost the contact information. I now live in the area and it would be easy for me to get the rifle to him, if he's still working. I prefer not to send my rifle off to Southern California just yet, but I am sure it's capable of better results than what I've been able to achieve so far. Also, I understand there have been incremental improvements that I might be able to take advantage of.

I have been shooting competitively for on and off for decades with some success. Although I am sure my benchrest airgun technique may well have something to do with my results, the performance of this rifle has been a little frustrating, given how much it cost. I was always plagued by a wandering zero and inexplicable fliers on my 50 yard home range. I also have several FX, AA, and Daystate high end PCPs, which mostly give me less trouble. Thanks so much for your time. I'm new to this forum but spent many a happy hour on the old Yellow Pages.
 
Maybe "LD" ? Larry Durham is/was well know ( created the original simple simon which tim copied into the USFT) . When one just wasnt 100% sometimes LD would windless tunnel test your next barrel/tune/other, naturally for a $.

I would wager you could go to any airgun shooting event in CA and find several USFT owners, that would be an excellent start , maybe a bit of a drive but LD still has ( ? maybe ) shoots at his place.

Naturally Allen Z could make any usft 100% and preform any personal od you might like. I have seen a new usft that could not hold 1/2" at 50 that he worked on that would never even tear into the 1/2" ring after whatever magic he did.

The USFT IS simple. Get with some other owners and fixing whatever issue yourself might be very rewarding.

LD lives in Temecula CA. We shoot monthly BR tournaments at his place (he has an 8 bench shooting range, 25M and 50Y). If anyone knows how to tune it, LD does. Although, he's south of Long Beach by at least an hour. About half the guys that shoot at his club shoot USFT or LD variants. We also have use of his 50 yard "tunnel" for gun/pellet testing. Matt Kellerman shot over 740 last month with his USFT "Spike", a very good score, and outdoors in swirling winds it was amazing...

There's a recent posting by Bill (@Crusher) on here about shooting pellets with damaged skirts, and the damaged skirt not affecting accuracy. That's one of the things I learned from LD years ago... And its true.

The gentleman you are looking for is Motorhead (Scott S.). He resides in Shingle Springs and is an incredible airgunsmith working on all types of air rifles. He spends most of his time on line on the GTA FT forum but I noticed he started posting on this forum recently. He has many satisfied USFT customers, myself included. If you are looking for an outstanding central CA airgun tuner look no further.

Bench rest and field target tunes differ a lot for the USFT rifle. So far as I know, Scott doesn't shoot or tune for bench shooting.

Consistency rules the day .... shot to shot stability is where it's at and not that different at all.

Playing with barrels and pellets & speed endlessly is indeed a BR thing differing greatly from FT..

No LD, I'm not going to get into a pissing match with you.
