Haven't had any real crazy issues with either UPS or USPS. I just bought a package from a fellow member who is in CA, I'm in NY. The priority mail box got here in 2 days!! Neither of us is sure how that happened!! They did not use a 3rd party service like Pirateship, Shippo, etc. I always use Pirateship, maybe USPS and UPS give those packages a lower priority??? IDK

USPS, UPS and then Fedex in that order.

USPS has never disappointed me and offers flat rate shipping (which I use all the time)

UPS has been positive IME too. Minus a few points for not being as convenient as the PO

Fedex sucks. Their website and customer service sucks and I have it from reliable sources that their pay and compensation sucks as well...which is reflected in the quality of their services and emplyee attitudes.

...speaking of Fedex, they sent me delivery confirmation (w a door front pic) of an item that I didn't order. Meanwhile the compressor that I ordered for my son is supposedly in route. Good luck ever talking to a human @ Fedex should you ever need any assistance.
It’s true. They recently merged fedex express and fedex ground. They call it fedex one. Fedex ground was all contractor delivery where express drivers were all employees. Most of the contractor pay is basically 💩. My understanding is that their goal with fedex one is to go entirely the contractor route. To me means it won’t get any better. Amazon has really given these companies (at least parcel divisions) a giant kick in the 🥜 s taking a huge chunk of the pie.
I work for fedex but nothing to do with parcel delivery. Just things I’ve heard through the grapevine.

My kid also worked for them and is not a fan. He was a dog handler and had one of the more gravey jobs but still hated every minute of his life while at work. They were going to restructure/ move to a sub-contractual arrangement w his employment scheme too, so he decided to move on.

The corporate trend towards subcontracting seems to be way to offer less but spin it up as a huge plus to the consumers.

I’m pissed and filed a complaint. I watched him put this in my mailbox, never got out of his truck. I literally was in my living room watching since I was home with a sick kid. He also didn’t take outgoing mail from my box.

At least you got the notice - I typically have them just drive by and not try, but they do put the mail in the box (I almost never put outgoing mail in the box as I no longer trust it - that gets dropped off directly at the post office).

For stuff I really want to get on time, I've taken to being outside when they drive up the street and then walk over as they arrive - I've even said "I think you have a package for me" and they've said they did not think so, but of course when they checked it was there and they gave it to me.

They leave the notice in the mailbox now. A few years ago it would be stuck to my door if i missed a delivery attempt, but he doesn’t get out of his truck anymore.

I think a lot of that depends upon your location and the delivery personnel. Our USPS delivery lady is great. Packages that do not fit the streetside mailbox, she brings to the front door and leaves them on our porch swing. A little over a week ago it was an airgun broken down, in a box about 48" long and 10" on both short sides. Fed ex always leaves on front porch and UPS also. I have had in the past UPS give an notice via email that they could not deliver because no one home to receive package, when I was sitting home awaiting delivery. THat was in Nov-Dec holiday season and I think drivers just did not want to make short trip out of town to our area late. I can understand them not wanting to be out late, but why LIE about it

Karma strikes…. Here I was defending them
USPS …..got an item coming from Cali. Saw it’s at my local distribution center.
great will be out for delivery now.

nope they sent it to a town about 30 miles south.
Well I heard your stories haaa… item no longer in NY.
Now in Mass.
was in NY for 2 days, I wonder if it will make it back

Been there - your package will now be in the "exception system" since it was misdelivered. Odds are that you will get it, but they might even not update the tracking system and will just show up at some point. Went through that a few months back, and spoke to the post office it was misdelivered to since it looked like it was there for over a week and they explained it to me - even sent me a screenshot of their internal system that showed it having been sent back out but no updates ever were made to the tracking data I could see until I randomly got an "out for delivery" notification . . .

Pirate Ship is a Shipping Broker.
Give them the size and weight of the package you're sending and they will find you the best deal.
They give you choices of who to ship with by price.
You then purchase and print the shipping label from Pirate Ship.
For me it is usually between USPS and UPS, and UPS usually wins out.
JMHO

You need to thank the Postal Master General of this Crap....
I live in a used to be a medium sized rural community in the Central Valley of California.
We have grown a lot. over the decades. That is.another story......
We had our own Postal annex for sorting for Us and the smaller towns around us...

Well in the infinite wisdom of the PMG.... they have shutdown everything in our area...
Even the post office is only there to accept packages, and house the PO Boxes....
All Mail now come from the Postal Distribution site in the Larger city 25 miles away, this includes all mail-persons!!
So No local Mail carriers and Sorting!!!
The Kicker is that all Mail you SEND goes to Sacramento, Ca 75 miles, to be sorted and sent
So I letter being sent to someone in- town or the next one over... take at least 5 days to 1 week to be Delivered!!!!!!!
What a Sh*tShow

Our mail man is great. Our house is a half mile down a private lane from the mail box. If we have a package he brings it to the door. Wish all were that competent.

Just to be clear, I don't have issues with the drivers for any of the 3 services. We have the same regular drivers from each and all three are friendly and cordial. We are on first name basis with the drivers from UPS and USPS. They complain about their employers as much as we do.
Don't shoot the messenger.. ;)
UPS guys that get to the position of route driver at least get compensated pretty good. I’m talking middle class blue collar just like me . Saying that they are under a surveillance gun at all times. Usually have to go years maybe before getting big brown truck working in a hub . The hub part certainly has automated since I did 2 Christmas seasons in the late 70s .
Paid good for temporary help but rudely treated by supervisors to say the least.

USPS guys I don’t think make as much hourly as ups but I’ll bet the federal perks make up for it. I am also sure the work load and pressure is not there.

Now the FedEx guys are different. Two high school friends had careers there. I think they were the lowest paid of the three.
They stayed with it though and time got you the route you wanted. Usually more country. The actual employee of FedEx is fading away. Now low paid , no care. Sometimes rude, very rough with packages and just don’t give a sh t. I ve watched in amazement one slowly walking close to porch of neighbors throwing package and talking their picture. The amazing thing to me was the SLOWLY. It doesn’t coincide with the job . They weren’t on my route for long

This is just my thoughts and experiences, yours may vary

You can just hope your driver resigns and takes the buyout. 🤞
