Utah Airguns recent purchase 2.0

Hello everyone,

My original thread “Utah Airguns recent purchase” is being blocked at Post #43 so that no new Post can be added, so I starting this thread.

An update to this thread. I sent Utah Airguns an email requesting a return shipping label and a full refund. I received a label and shipped the Katran back to them yesterday. I hope this will be the resolve to this issue.

I would also like to say how proud I am to be a part of this group of airgunners. Obviously a bunch of down to earth people with high moral standards and a good sense for fairness. Thank you for the kind words and support it was the major contributing factor in my decision.

Here is a copy of an email that I sent to Utah Airguns:

Reference Order# 129555, dated January 15, 2023

Utah Airguns

I ordered and paid for a new AirMaks Katran Long air rifle ( Serial #C2152433 ) and received a rifle that was defective. After contacting your business and explaining the defect I was issued a return shipping label ( FedEx 3940 8206 0497 ) so that I could return the rifle in order for your service department to preform the required and proper repair.

I returned the rifle and when I receive it back from your service department it was damaged with three (3) bad scratches. This damage is denoted in photos #02-13-2023.5, #02-13-2023.8, #02-13-2023.9 that I sent to you via my email dated February 13, 2023.

To date you have failed to complete your obligation to supply a new air rifle as outlined in my original order.

Therefore, I request that you send to me a return shipping label to be used to return the damage rifle back to you. I also request that you give me a full refund in the amount of $1,645.72.

Regards,
Thomas Travis

Thomas I remember reading a thread about one of the AirMaks having a reg issue, and If memory serves, I thought I read that the manufacturer and dealer both new of the issue but choose to sell the Rifles anyway? I hope I am mistaken on that. If that is the case, maybe that might not be the best choice unless you are ok with wrenching?

Edit:

Here is the thread, its the krait and not the Katran

I can vouch for the buying experience at UA. I ordered (what I thought to be) a .25 Caiman X with dark green laminate stock on sale for $1050. The next day I happened to be on their web site and saw where the price on the Caiman's had been lowered by $180. I called and spoke to Robert and asked him if I could get the lower price. He found out I had ordered the Caiman on line, and not the Caiman X. He also informed me that they only had the X in dark brown laminate. He was glad to give me the lower price and asked me if I wanted a refund on my credit card or store credit. Since there were a few Caiman accessories I wanted I chose store credit. It was a very pleasant experience. The gun is scheduled to be here (Oklahoma City) tomorrow. I will update this thread when it arrives.
UPDATE: The Caiman arrived this morning. Signature required. The accessories I ordered with it also came in a separate package (DonnyFL 1x20 UNF adapter, replacement o-rings, air fill port plug) This is a stunningly beautiful little rifle and the photos do not do it justice. The rifle came in the padded case shown, along with fill probe and de-gassing tool (very useful and convenient) Ryan signed the tuning card that came with the rifle using 25.39 gr JBS Diabolo Kings @ 900fps. I wanted to mount my MTC 12x50 S.W.A.T (near zero eye relief) scope, but the picatinny rail does not extend back far enough for me to shoulder the gun and achieve proper eye relief. So, I settled on my 3x12x40 Hawke Compact which just did fit all the way to the rear for proper eye relief. I shot several different weight pellets and slugs and they all shot one hole at 15 yards. This little gun really packs a whallop on the target (sand filled Styrofoam ice chest) I added a 0db moderator which helps reduce the bark. I will be putting it on the crony over the next few days to settle in on a pellet and slug I want to use for hunting and for punching paper as well. The Predator lead-free 16.54 domed pellets as well as the Hawk Thunder 33.95 domed (redesign shape) both shot perfectly. The 26.24 gr pointed Hawk 's were too long for the magazine. Talking about magazines, the gun comes with two aluminum 8-shot mags that are easy to load and operate smoothly. One of the little niceties I discovered is after the last shot and the mag is empty, when you cock the lever it stops at the end of the throw to alert you the mag is empty. The fun factor is pegged at max for me with this rifle and the quality and feel of this little rifle, when you bring it to your shoulder, is superb. These are a steal for $799 to $899 at Utah Air IMO.
