Varmint Knocker .25 caliber 40 grain Large Hollow Point Slug on Raccoon

I shot this raccoon at 25 yards with my Edgun R5 .25 shooting a Varmint knocker 40 grain hollow point slug. It was my first raccoon with a slug. The slug went into his head, no exit wound (saved my feeder!). I know the video is out of focus, I'll do better next time. If the video doesn't load, you didn't miss too much. There also wasn't anything to show in a picture. The slug went in, didn't come out. Very little blood. Just a very dead raccoon at 3:30 in the morning!

My Edgun R5 is shooting the 40 Grain Large Hollow point slugs at around 870 fps. There is a guy Hekk187 on this hunting forum who turned me on to the 40 grainers. He did a lot of experimentation. He posted a picture of an 85 yard group less than 1". Also D-rig posted some really good groups in the same thread. Here is a link. Or you can search on "Varmint Knocker" in the Hunting Forum.

I don't hear that well and the distance is only 25 yards so the slug gets there in a hurry, so I don't know about the thud noise. The raccoon did do the nerve dance, but not for very long. Much longer with a pellet. I think that 40 grainer really messed up INSIDE of his head. Again there was no pass through. I shot another raccoon last night with my Veteran .25 using a Varmint Knocker 32.8 grain slug (no pass through). The video is much better (in focus) and I'm going to post it as soon as I can figure out how to do it cleanly. I'm really liking these slugs. As soon as I buy some more 32.8 grainers I will try to shoot groups.
