Vector Veyron 4-16X44

I've been a huge fan of Vector Veyron scopes, as I have two 3-12X and a 10X. Recently I bought a 4-16X and was a bit disappointed with it. The eye box is pretty fussy, not as bad as say, a Hawke Sidewinder, but it's something to be aware of. It just felt weird to me and I ended up sending it back. I can't imagine what the 6-24X would be like.
Truthfully, I'd rather have a lower power scope that is easy to look through, than a higher power that is finicky. The worst scope I ever had in this respect is the Sidewinder 6.5-20X Hawke. It was almost unusable on anything above 10X or so, and I ended up sending it back also. Some may like that fussiness as it makes for consistent head placement, but not me, it's just another hinderance to good, comfortable shooting.

Sad to hear about your experience, as good as they can be I've heard of several lemons from them. The Arken LH series is a nice scope for the money being around $260 and weighing in about 20-23oz for to 4-16 and the 6-24 both 30mm tubes.

I also have a 4-16x44 Vortex Diamondback Tactical that has been great to me for the past 5 years.

Monstrum makes an MPVO 1-10x24 FFP scope that is compact, and around 18oz with the included mount, it is very clear, and has a nice range of illumination for $200

I only have one SFP Veyron 6-24X and I am very happy with it. The eye box is small at 24X but I only use 24X for target shooting so it is not an issue. I pest or hunt at 6X usually, sometimes turning it up a bit on a challenging shot. But never close to 24 X. I have occasionally grabbed the gun and tried to get a pest in the scope with it set on 24X. It was frustrating (but I've made it work before). But the solution is to just turn it down.

A tighter eyebox on the maximum power seems normal to me. I think my Arken EPL-4 FFP 6-24 is about the same in this aspect. It's a nicer scope than a Veyron in my opinion except that it is FFP. Basically unusable at 6X. Glass on the Arken is better and adjustments are more positive but I don't like the FFP.

I like the illuminated center dot. I have not tried other veyrons. I also make custom stocks that fit me for my air guns. I find that when a stock fits me my head position is easier to get consistent. But from field positions, 24X or higher scopes (I have a 32X Vector too) head position is certainly more likely to be an issue. I don't want to use scopes at high power, even 10X is a bit high for me, because it is more difficult to find my target quickly. Placement is certainly also important so I do not want to use 3X or 4X either. 6X for hunting or pesting seems about right for me. But 12X is not enough for targets. Even 16X is noticably harder to use target shooting than 24X (or higher). So I like 6-24s. I have three. Two SFP one FFP (the Arken).

I like the IR also on my sfp 3x12 . The dot is kinda big for target shooting at 50y but it's on a Vet short .177 for pesting and it works well in low light . 1/4" groups at 30 with it .

Edit , sfp not ffp , oops

I also have two 3x12 SFP Veyrons. Very satisfied with them. I was thinking of getting one of the ir dot 3x12 Veyrons when they became available to try out. Seems like it's been a while since they announced the ir models. I did find the 3x12ir for sale on Vectors US site. It only list the SFPir for $200.00. They show 4 in stock. Doesn't say if their in the US or coming on a slow boat? The site is Vector2007.com. I think I will wait till the price gets better.

Good catch . Mine is sfp not ffp . I ordered it from Aliexpres. I think it was around 120 bucks .
@Headshots I wasn't trying to catch anything. I was looking for clarity. I didn't know they made them like this. So you're saying that you have a Vector Veyron 3-12x SFP scope with an illuminated reticle (not an illuminated centered dot)?

Yes just the center dot . Not the reticle for clarity. The center dot works fine for me . My Arken does light the dot and cross hairs but neither lights the tree unless on full power .

Ran across this . It gets good reviews on Ali but Ive never heard of them . Sorry for being off topic OP and thanks for input on the 4x16 .

Didn't want to start another thread . $121 on ebay a little less on aliexpres . I think they are called Riptide on Amazon.

I’ve been saying it, that scope sucks. On top of it being lackluster compared to the excellent 3-12x44 Veyron, i loathe the illuminated center dot. I have several Vector Optics (varied models and duplicates of the same model). The Veyron 4-16x is by far the worst.
That was what I liked about the 4x16 was the illuminated dot, for squirrel hunting early mornings.

Another thumbs up for just the illuminated dot. I tried a number of illuminated tree reticles and even at the lowest power setting they would wash out my sight picture when shooting in super low light conditions.

Love the Veyron scope on my RTI prophets.
