Velocity for .22 cal FX Hybrid Slugs?

Found this information while i was researching this very topic in regards to the Hybrid. Measured by Matt Dubber awhile back, but he also said it worked great for him even at 980~1000fps, i think the velocity is only half of the equation, wouldn't know till you try it out at the range you're targeting.

You are correct. You can hit your target velocity ten different ways with an Impact. And that’s why if FX quit making that gun and parts for the older models, pellet and slug manufacturers would have to lay off employees.

For real, I can only imagine FX is making boat load of money from hobbyist and enthusiast alike, i just received 1600 rounds of FX Hybrid from PA, trying different tunes to find the velocity that my bone stock M4 felt comfortable with, plowed through 3 magazine (84rd) in no time, that's $10 worth of Hybrid just for quick tuning, if I'm not being mindful...... this hobby could drain money out of my wallet in a hurry. :ROFLMAO:

I'm settling for 940fps to maximize efficiency:
Reg - 100 bar
Micro - 3
Valve - 4
Slug port on 600mm stock barrel.

With 100 bar at the reg, i could push it up to 970fps with Micro at 3.5 and open up the valve a little, but it's a lot noiser with much louder action, that's the peak/plateau with 100 bar at the reg, had to back it down closer to the knee. was also going to try 110~120 bar at the reg with lower HS but i'm going to wait till i could take it to the 100 yard range to validate the grouping.

I'll end up reserving these expensive hybrid for pesting, a bit too expensive for plinking and target shooting. 😅 Waiting for some NSA 20.3gr in 2175 and 218 to see how my M4 like them

You do have a CF sleeve bonded to your liner? If not, I would advise it before you proceed. Also check your seating depth. Just chamber the slug of your choice, loosen three screws, pull the barrel and take a peek. Two of the last three Impacts I purchased has the probe depth way out of whack. You want the stock probe to just kiss the liner as you close the lever before it retracts a little.

No CF sleeve, should i add one? was told it's not needed unless i'm shooting >27gr

I don't add any mod unless there's a need for it, like accuracy or grouping is lacking or something affecting the harmonic/POI.

Do it. You just spent over $2k on a pellet gun then another $290 on a consumable called slugs. Don’t get cheap on me now. When you book a flight to slug land, dot all your I’s and cross all your T’s. You don’t want to have to retest at all those settings because the gun wasn’t the best it can be. That’s why you check your seating depth also. Takes 5-7 minutes.

Have one coming from Utah Airgun, will install it and have it bonded to the liner next week when i get it. The CF liner sleeve is a bit over $30 so it's ain't too bad, but....

These FX Impact seems to have never-ending and unlimited amount of headroom left for end users to keep buying a bunch of aftermarket craps to improve fix them. lol I saw Hein Frommann custom made a Stainless/Titanium rigid tube barrel for Matt Dubber back in 2021 to address the barrel harmonic issue on his M3, since Hein is the official R&D guy working for FX, why couldn't they implement something similar onto all their FX guns? Then there's this Harmonic Barrel Tuner add on, bloody hell...like one thing after another with so many different stuff needed to "improve" it.

Sounds like $2K for the Impact M4 is just to get your foot into the door, bunch of others parts await if you want it to shoot accurately and reliably. 😝

No need to go overboard. There are things that truly help the gun and there are things that don’t. Necessary vs unnecessary. If you’re not going to push the gun velocity wise or slug weight wise beyond the guns happy range, just focus on getting your barrel right. No tuners, probes or go fast parts. Sadly, if a FX guy really wants to spend money on his gun to get the most out of it, it’s not going to be on a bunch of cool doo-dads to bolt on. He will have $300+ worth of liners sitting there to test which one is best. Hopefully you don’t have to go there.
