VERY IMPRESSED with Victoptics 1-6 LPVO scope from Edgunwest!!!!

Help a shooter with little scope experience understand please.

Checking the specs, the parallax is set at 100 yards

How do you get a sharp image at 75,50, 25 yards?

Thanks

Ed

I’ve run a fixed 100 yard parallax scope on an air rifle for months before switching out. The image quality was fine and as @qball suggested adjusting the diopter helped keep the image clear at various distances. The biggest challenge I encountered was maintaining a virtually identical cheek weld in order to stack pellets while target shooting; this was from 25-60 yards. If I didn’t place my cheek at the same place on the stock, my pellets’ point of impact would change.

Yes, that's always the problem with fixed parallax scopes. But they are not designed for precision shooting especially a LPVO. LPVO's primary design requirement is 1X, everything else is lower priority/afterthought. Another way to put it is it's designed to be 1X 99% of the time but has 2-6x for that very rare 300 yard shot, no one on the tactical training courses use anything but 1x and adjust parallax between 10 feet and 30 yards. Hold up Mr paper bad guy, I can't see you clearly and need a minute to adjust my parallax. Speed, speed, speed is the goal for all 1x optics. It's designed for CQB with targets size of human torso and heads on an AR but certainly has a place on an airgun in closer hunting applications where you have to look for fast moving critters.

That said I have no issues putting pellets through the same hole at 35 yards if condition allows with 5x or 6x but I've been practicing that a lot.

So got the second one today and mounted it on my PP700. Have to say I’m still impressed if not a bit more.

the problem with my PP700 is I switch between carbine and pistol format all the time because with the folding stock it’s really hard to fit into my biking backpack. Red dot works but my eyes don’t really like red dot as much and then I like to have a little magnification especially in carbine form for the 25-30 yards shots. Hence the reason I’ve tried over a dozen different optics many times on the pp700.

what was interesting today is I realized the eye relief on this scope in 1x is so good that at full arm’s length it still is kind of useful as a pistol scope but only at 1x. But move it a little closer in FT style support I can use 2-3x fairly easy. Because of this I could use the same exact scope in 2 very different shooting style or switch between carbine and pistol. Very interesting, will play with it more but I’m even more impressed with this budget scope. Only wished it’s even lighter!

I have an Alpha6 1-6x24 that hasn't made it on anything yet. Bought it for a Classic Leshiy & it couldn't beat out my Stryka 1-6x24 with side focus, despite the latter only having a duplex reticle.

Your description of eye relief on this Victoptics has me intrigued.

Comparing the Alpha6 to Victoptics...

Which has more eye relief at 3x?

Which has a more forgiving eye box at 3x?

I swore no more inexpensive LPVOs but maybe just one more...

I happen to have an alpha 6 also so let me try it.

ok, side by side these 2 scopes are impressive their own ways:

Glass: vectoptics is whiter and little brighter but alpha 6 has better resolution even though it has a yellowish tint to it but that helps with contrast

eye piece: alpha 6 has significantly larger eye piece which means significantly wider field of view.

eye relief:

1x vectoptics has linger eye relief

3x alpha has slightly longer eye relief

6x Alpha has longer eye relief

from eye piece perspective alpha is SIGNIFICANTLY better! Not only it has larger eye piece with wider field of view the eye relief is far more consistent throughout zoom range like expensive LPVO scopes.

I really love Alpha 6 LPVO scope but really dislike the big round dot, had it only has a modern reticle it’s just crazy hard to beat. interestingly the not so great eye piece with extra long 1x eye relief actually made it a possible very versatile scope on my PP700. Also being very light weight is very appealing. If you don’t mind the weight and round center dot the alpha 6 is definitely better but they are a little different with their own good points and bad. If only the vectoptics had the Alpha eye piece…….LOL

In summary and from application perspective my opinions are:

on an airgun I think the vectoptics is much better

on an AR I think the alpha is hands down better
