Very slow response when visiting site

When I check back in at this site after a day or two or even several hours have passed, it always stalls on the front page I think because it's loading so many freaking banner advertisements. If not that I don't know what it is. For example if someone sent me a message or if I got a comment and I want to check it I end up just having to wait for a ridiculously long time before everything loads and I can actually click on the alert / messages link. This is by far the most sluggish site that I visit - anyone else experiencing this? it's one thing if you're connecting over cellular but I have a good strong Wi-Fi connection and this site just stalls. Maybe decrease the number of images / ads on the homepage

I get the same thing and have good Internet..I'd like to assume that the site is just overwhelmed with visitors.. because it does seem to change depending on when I get on.. sometimes it doesn't even load and I just wait till later..
but I don't know.

Never an issue, but then the VPN I use has multiple ad blockers...

Log out and try it. If it's running fine, then it sounds like your account has been throttled. Usually for points applied for violations.

Been there done that. I reached out to the mods and Michael and got it sorted.

Didn't even know that could occur (throttling) but I don't think that's the case here.

Pretty sure it is due to having to load in all of those pictures on the home page. I'll book mark the forums page and bypass the home page. It's only the homepage that is tedious and I never look at all eye candy posted there anyway.

If the goal is to get us to look at all kinds of ads (makes sense on a free site) it might be good to spread them out a little thinner. Ironically stuffing all those images and ads on the front page there is just ensuring I don't look them.

same here i agree it is the opening page loading that takes a while .

Personally I don't have too many issues with it. I've got T-Mobile for my phone service and my home wi-fi. The phone loads everything lickety split. On my laptop I use the Opera browser which is actually the gaming version. On my old Opera browser it did take some time and give me problems with a lot of things. You might want to try a different browser and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks I just bookmarked the forums and skip the front page, problem solved. that's literally the only site that I visit that stalls like this so I think I'll stick with my browser, but if it starts occurring elsewhere too I will consider your advice.
