Vevor Compressor Failure - Any idea

So my compressor stopped working properly.. 5-months old. It will fill but very slowly and then when I turn it off it depressurizes, so I think there is a leak somewhere and I have this brown residue shooting out of the bleed valve.

Any clue? I contacted Vevor for warranty, and initially they wanted me to fix, then I got escalating $$ offers and finally after insisting I want a replacement they said out of stock and just refunded me. Very strange company.

So now I have this compressor, and my money back so I can take apart and fiddle... I have moved onto using Nitrogen so compressor here just for occasional fills so it being down is no big deal.

Hello @CanMike

Well you came out better that I did with my failed Vevor compressor. My High Pressure pump stopped working and I have emailed a dozen times, called once and even written them a detailed letter and have received nothing from them. My unit was out of warranty so I just asked for a replacement Pump or the parts to rebuild and offered to pay for everything and yet NO reply form Vevor. Sure wish there was a USA based parts store available.

You can source a new motor and piston fairly cheap on Amazon. I have a nice single piston housing, you'd have to get new ring seals or just replace the piston. I also have the block and copper piping to reassemble. Looks like lots of moisture has been taken in. On the side of the cylinder housing is an intake screen.. you can directly thread on a small oil/water filter instead. Youd either have to leave metal housing off or cut a through hole for it.

I would gladly send you the piping and Cylinder/housing... Just cover the postage.

If that is the problem. Usually the cylinder, piston gets really gunked up and slows the filling process or the copper coils and brush in the motor burn out

Mike,
Sorry for the hassle, good news on refund. Normal use lifetime for these multi-power, oil-less, waterless, high speed fan only cooled compressors is 12-18 months, 5 months is unacceptable. STKO, a YouTube airgun poster, feels a conspiracy exists by manufacturers to not make repair parts available to encourage new sales. Video about a year old, interesting content. WM

Thanks for offer. They sent me a video to disassemble / clean something. I’ll see if I can open her up and identify issue.

Wasn’t going to do that under warranty but now that it is essentially free no harm in tinkering.

Hello @CanMike

Will you post that link to the video?

Vevor is a very strange company to deal with but if you are persistent , they will honor their wrty. I have been sent two additional compressors on top of the original failed compressor. They will try to nickel and dime but if you are patient and play their game, more often than not, you will get full reimbursement or a new replacement. If you can manage to speak with a real person, the process can be expedited but that is easier said than done. My advice on purchasing Vevor compressors, DON'T! Especially if you are a heavy user. My first compressor lasted 1 month. The two replacements a combined 2 months. Finally I just excepted the refund. So I have 3 ,non-functioning compressors. I'm sure once I tear into them, I will find a fix but because time is something I always seem to need more of, have not got to them. Purchased a Hatsan Lighting compressor, lightly used and a Omega Super Charger as a backup. Combined cost for both was $650 . The Omega is nice because I can set it and leave it without having to worry about overheating. It is not as fast as the Hatsan but can fill a scuba tank in a couple hours and does not need to be done in stages. . The Hatsan is a dual cylinder, Tuxing clone. Both have auto purge and auto shut off with built in cooling Like I said, I am a heavy user of these compressors and use one or the other every day. Have had 0 issues with either compressor going on 8 months now.

As far as the Chinesium compressors. I've been very lucky one lasted 8 months until I had to replace the piston seals. I noticed it slowed badly. Bumped up the inverter voltage . Worked again. Until it didn't.was the brushes in the motor. Bought the most god awful cheapo mid August. Took its motor, changed all gaskets and orings... Been running better than originally since August. I learned if you take the casing off it runs 15⁰c cooler. Used to get up to 44⁰c filling 500cc tanks from 135-250. Without the housing I rarely break 30⁰c. Water filters on both ends. Fills from 150-250 in a 500 in a out 6-7 minutes

Edit. For the most part they most appear to be the exact same components with the fan, motor, pressure gauge, bleed screw, and outlet air locations differed between them. I bought the "spritech", the larger one with 2 intake cooling fans and one large outlet fan. Most use the exact same piston. Of which there seem to be 2 different designs
