Dayum! Mighty fine shooting! You think that setup would hold enough energy for ground squirrels at that range? Makes me think that a gen2 Priest might be in my future with a slug barrel... for those pesky squirrels on the far hill snubbing their noses at me.
I saw those slugs punching right through the plywood after flying 200yds. That’s nuts! My 18gr pellets might be able to at 25yds. That’s a powerful set up for sure.
The wind was mostly from the same direction but at varying speed, not much though. The lighter slugs drifted just a tad more.
Keith,
Yes, we have out to 600yds in 100-yd steps.
Cc,
I think those chickens are 12" across. I had 5 slugs left by the time I shot all the targets so I just put them on the chickens. I think four of them landed in the same spot and the last one was to the right. I could barely hear the ding from the impact. In the video you can see the steel move from one or two of the impacts, but mostly just see the splatter in the sand below the target.
From the tip of the tail to the tip of the beak probably 12 inches. Looked to me like you wobbled them a little (first shot) . You know Bob you're not supposed to be able to do that.
A rimfire is what 48 grains and a muzzle velocity of target ammo 1200 ft per? I forget but I think that's about right. Clearly a 25 cal shooting a 45 or 50 grain is going to be right up there with a rimfire. I guess we decide if that's a tool we need or not. For what I'm doing don't know if I want something that HOT. But I'm sure it has it's applications.
