Video on range marking a scope wheel for HFT

Over the course of a few years, I’ve seen a wide variety of scope wheels and their range markings. Some are very well done while others appear to have had little effort as to how and why.
in this video I wanted to share what I do to prep a scope wheel for HFT in hopes to enlighten beginners in this class as to where to start and why.

While I don’t claim or pretend to have all or any of the answers on setting up a scope, I have learned a LOT through my mistakes. Hopefully this will help those who are new to the sport or would like another's insight.

Great video Dave not only for the new guy but a good set up review for the seasoned FT shooter. Just wish I could of seen this when I first got into the field target game. Could of save myself a lot of time.figuring out my yardages and accurately marking them down on my scope. Required viewing for the new guys, and ladies for sure. Not sure that came out right...How about required viewing for all new field target shooters.... Thanks Dave good job...

To save a lot of walking around and effort, use a card board box with a target stapled to it and fasten either a measuring tape or a cord with yard markers attached and put it out at 55 years after zeroing at your zero range. Then at the indicated range, shoot and note the holdover or clicks required , write the data down and pull in the target to the next range and repeat to the 10 yard limit. Or use a target on a RC car and a lazer range finder to set the various distances from your position. Shoot the target, not the car.

Why mark yardage and not just mark your holdover at each of those marks? You don’t really care what the yardage is, don’t you just want to know when the target is in focus, what holdover do you need to hit the target?

I guess if you are shooting various pellets and or power levels then you would have a range card for each pellet and or pellet and power and yardage would help that.

I just mark my holdover directly on the wheel as I shoot the same pellet and same power at all FT matches.

Just a thought.
