Tuning Vortek PG3 Steel Diana 34 kit- ambitious?

I saw this today and thought “man, has Vortek been taking marketing lessons from Gamo?” What do y’all think about this? Listed as “up to 20 FPE”, and this:

Hey Bryan,

I had it installed on a RWS34 .177 that I recently sold. Performance increase was only a few fps over stock and honestly I preferred the shot cycle I could create with stock spring and a home made piston sleeve.

That is what my instincts are telling me. I also have known and trusted Vortek though. I don’t understand why a company like Vortek would try to play this game, air gunners that work on their own know the realistic expectations of their guns. So I thought maybe they figured something out special.

When you swap out the springs do you need a spring compressor?

The 34 needs a compressor. I have done without one, But I don’t recommend it.

I have installed the pg2 sub 12 fpe kit in one of my 34’s. Definitely still some preload but easier than factory spring.

I've done it several times without a spring compressor but it's a pain and you need to have strong hands. So eventually I bought a spring compressor.

Reminds me of one of my R1’s. Just a nice solid recoil...thump!

20 Ftlbs is stretching things a bit for a 34, but Vortex kits are more aligned to damping and nice shot cycles than they are big power increases. 14 to 15ftlbs..

34s are very underrated guns however. Recently (Last 2 to 3 years but cannot pin it down exactly) the pistons went to a much higher quality and hardness. Any mods you make to the pistons on these newer specimens will be met with ringing while cutting on the lathe. Good guns and nice simple stocks.
