Vortex venom 5x25x56

Cyclops Joe claims the Vortex Venom is a huge disappointment in his review pitting the Venom 5-25x56mm FFP 34mm tube against the Arken SH4 Gen 2 6-24x50mm FFP 34mm tube

We know he is not a fan of Vortex so not a huge surprise. However if all things being equal the 23 mils of elevation for a 34mm tube scope is rather pathetic now and days. Everything else in the video is more or less opinion/preference. Arken's glass does seem a bit better but hard to tell from scope cam videos.

@qball The picture quality between the two was very noticeable in his comparison. The field of view also looked wider on the Arken. Your point on his bias concerning most Vortex scopes is valid. He doesn’t hide it. I’ve had my eye on the Venom and a few others for a little while. I’m still waiting on some members here to provide some feedback. I’ve seen nothing but PB shooters reviewing the Venom. I’m also curious about the Arken, SH4 Gen 2, but I know very little about the brand or their products.

Field of view does seem wider but picture quality depends greatly on how the scope cam is setup and focused so I don't usually take scope cam footage as concrete evidence of glass quality until I look through it myself after getting everything dialed to my eyes. Don't take me wrong he may very well be 100% correct, I just like to take everything on the internet with a healthy handful of salt. My personal opinion on the Venom is an absolute NO, simply because it's a 34mm scope with only 23 mils of elevation. A lot of 30mm scopes have 21-22 mils of elevation already so why waste money and the extra weight on a 34mm scope with zero value add. On that note alone I would agree with Joe that Venom is a turd regardless of his bias. LOL!

The gold standard and the most MOA you can get out of a 34mm scope without dramatic sacrifice on image quality/field of view is 120 MOA/35 Mils. Arken's 32 mils elevation is right in the ballpark of 110 MOA which is very good still.
