Hey guys, I had a Monstrum 3-12 x42 AO IR on my Notos that I didn't like because I couldn't get the parallax to eliminate /get it focused for my eye and missed quite a few times on pest ground squirrels/striped gophers today. I deleted a gopher using my green laser set to 10 yards but had real issues at 30-35 yards getting a hit. Personally need more zoom BUT also more reliable parallax elimination. The problem is not my gun because I get good groups at 25 yards but then when I adjust AO to a different range it just goes left or right etc. Yes I understand markings on scope maybe dont match real life but I just cant get as good focus as other scopes. Wanna return before the window closes.

THIS VOTING IS NOT SFP VS FFP BUT FOR WHAT SCOPE YOUD GET OR SAY IS MORE RELIABLE/ CLEAR, ETC. thanks!

I am looking for a replacement and have narrowed it down. I have a compact 4-16x SWAT UTG on my Avenger that I like and can focus well but those compacts are oddly $50 more than full size. I don't want to spend much more than half the Notos cost on a scope.

#1 is full size UTG.

#2 option is a West Hunter based on this forum recommendation of the brand and it happened to be same price as the UTG but in FFP.

#3 is maybe a far reach but seemed OK. Seen the brand thrown around on AGN before.
It is Vision King

Ok, hear me out... For a budget scope. This is shockingly very good. I bought a rifle that came with this scope (old fx crown mk1). And I have quite a number of optics. I was impressed with this one. For what it retails for... Glass is great/clear, reticle is nice. And it has side parallax adjustment, but is SFP. I'll never part with mine, simply because it works well. Also should note, the reticle is finer than the photo indicates. But otherwise is what it looks like.

I'm suggesting this based off of the size/mag of scopes you're looking at, and also the budget.

I also have this scope, I keep it as a backup, it is very good for the price. I bought mine as a refurb for around $60.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think that scope would be great especially for the price!

Only reservation is it is not 4-16x and not illuminated, which I want for my Notos. Ground squirrel heads at 30 yards was tough with my 12x.

However, I may pick one up for my Ruger 10/22 though because I have a Simmons 3-9x32 that I bought before I remembered that I can't do 32mm obj. lenses (too small for me) and before I realized how much I missed parallax adjustments.

Tim I tend to use lower magnifications.
My unsolicited vote is for a Bug buster 3x12 or 3x9. The Notos is a shorter range specialist capable of stretching its legs. Also lately I’m all about cutting as much weight as possible… hence my prism scope. ( I have a bug buster slated for Notos Duty once it returns )

You have many good choices already brought up here.

( I struggle with scope choices, clearly )

I went with a super lightweight https://www.amazon.com/CVLIFE-2-5-10x40e-Green-Illuminated-Scope/dp/B00PRVLMK4/ and have eviscerated many tree rats with it. Works great and I'm happy with the magnification to weight ratio.

I took off my Monstrum scope to return it and in the meantime threw on a reflex type sight this one and wow yeah this Notos feels a lot lighter! I just can't do the zero magnification... I know prism scopes should be 3x or so, but I've heard the eye relief on those is terrible. How's yours?

I'd do a bug buster but the 32mm objective lens is too small for me, I like to really see what I'm shooting at, hence the options I put in the vote poll. 1.5 ish LBS of scope and mount is, percentage wise, super heavy on the Notos. However I am used to an over 10 LB Avenger so anything is better to carry than that haha My estimate is that my Notos will be about 5.75lbs decked out with scope, but I'll have to weigh it when I get a scope.

Plus I have a laser / light combo that I use for 10 yard shots, so that's why I'm okay having more magnification for my scope.

I had that in my cart at one point but saw it didn't have parallax adjustment. Do you have any issues with things being out of focus?

I dont - it has a diopter on the back that I use to focus but lack of parallax is not bad. It can get hazy in the edges at 10x magnification so I tend to leave it set right at 8.5x. I shoot 12-75 yards and just let my primary eye do the focus outside of diopter adjustments.
Looks like reviews say parallax is set at 100 yards, which would cause me issues. Do you shoot the same all the time? (Table only or standing only etc) Because I found out I table sighted in mine with that Monstrum and then went out and used a railing on a deck as support and found it was hitting in a different spot since my head was held differently looking ~30 degrees down off the deck. That scope is very feature packed for the price though! Amazed it is illuminated and has the laser built in.

I shoot all over - standing, leaning, out the window, from a table, etc. I wear eye glasses and have a hard time with focus and my eyes past 15 yards due to staring at a computer screen all day as a career. I have a Monstrum G3 3-18x50 on my Renegade and that is a heavy puppy. For real though the scope is very accurate and holds it zero. I have executed through summary judgement many tree rats for their crimes against humanity :)

Wow, you must have better muscle memory than I do to be able to center yourself on the scope every time and the parallax to not affect you!

I completely understand the glasses and staring at a computer screen all day- I do it too. Sure makes going outside and shooting a lot more fun after that haha

I just looked up your 3-18x50 some reviews were saying 27 ish ounces!! That'd be too much for the Notos lol

I guess good news is it is inexpensive on Amazon and if you find it does not work well for you it is an easy hassle free return. I just kind of cheek-weld in the same place and it works for me. Notos is as accurate as I am with that scope; trigger is nothing like my Pulsar or Renegade which spoil me for bench shooting like popping wasps on my spinners at 55 yards, lol!

Yeah I'm experiencing the ease of a scope return right now-gonna drop off that Monstrum I had today.

You should try adjusting the little trigger screw in there or polishing the tip of it to round it off-mine doesn't scoot along then fire it is just smooth now after that and some grease.
I bet your Notos would hit wasps at 55 if you put on that 3-18x50 beast of a scope! Lol

:). Yeah I took mine apart and worked on the trigger. It isnt bad but it isnt great, lol. But man do I love the Notos :). Let us know what you end up going with and show us pictures :)
I fiddled with it a bit and it kept firing with safety on but I finally got it figured out and have a decent trigger. I would prefer a very crisp break but the light one is okay.

Yeah Umarex must be selling millions, these things are awesome!!

Alright there is a few hours left in the poll time, we will see what everyone suggests and then will see what I pick from that. I'll upload a photo once zeroed for a bit cause I don't want to give a scope review and it is actually not good after a few zooms in out & turret movements etc. Hope Amazon keeps its $ this go around.

It’s 3x magnification it’s ok … Very close eye relief. It works for 20 yard and under nicely …It’s quick to point and obviously as light as open sights.
I understand the need for bigger scope and the notos can definitely slay at 40 -50
I’ll likely put on the other bug I have ….

You can’t go wrong whatever you do … she’s a shooter

Keep ‘em light. !
