Airgun Technologies Vulcan 3 700 .25 vs.... Any other?

Being retired I had the time for making the following exercise:

Which of my PCP's are able to have killing power at diverse distance and accuracy to be reliable.

A .30 Cal Vulcan 3 HP should have more killing power at 200 yards.... Doubtless, but would be to much for must of what I hunt frequently.

Non of my other PCP' have the accuracy nor the power at 200 yards that the Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal has.

To shoot closer than 130 yards there are MANY rifles that could be better, yes...... BUT ....

What is the rational to choose a more limited rifle over a better performer ???

Many would say that not all are interested in shooting so far.... And that is truth.... BUT...

Why choosing a less capable product for the same price ???

I completely agree. Imo, the 30 and even the 35 cals yield a nice blend of killing power, shot count, accuracy, and reasonable ammo costs. Al though I would advocate for 45 cal and up, pretty much any critter up to the size of a deer can be put down with those two calibers. I sure know my 35 cal crushes coyotes and turkeys well.

While some claim the ammo costs are high with these calibers, I tend to disagree. Especially when you compare them to powder burners or even larger slug calibers.

In fact last season I laughed when a salesman at a local sporting goods store tried to sell me on purchasing a 5 round box of 12 gauge 9 shot tss for turkey at $90. Claimed they could take turkeys at 60 to 70 yards with the right choke. I told him for 20 bucks I can get 110 rounds of NSA 93 grain 357 cal slugs and take turkeys at 150 yards with ease. Done it in the past and quickly learned I enjoy the experience of calling in them to 10 yard or less way more.

One other thing to consider too is when you spend a bunch of money on a high end airgun, along with the compressor, tank, and scope to run it; is the ammo costs really that much?

Now if you are using it to compete then that is a whole different ball game where power isn't necessarily needed or wanted.

I think you're next rifle should be a newer huben k1 in .25. Shooting 80fpe was a breeze, the max I got it too shoot was 98.9fpe shooting 47gr solids at 974fps and shooting the .254 NSA 38.5 at 140yds I was able to get 5 shot groups that would cloverleaf. Getting that out of a semi automatic power house is nutty. I also had the vulcan 3 .25 and like the power it put out, but I didn't like the loud twang or the length mine had. It was just as good shooting it although the huben would produce more consistency in the groups.

A moment ago I went shooting birds at 190 yards.

I made about 25 shots. Two just feathers and two solid hits. All,other shots were really close.

Many would say that that average is really bad, but remember that I do not use a bipod ever.

Maybe in the future I would buy a huben K1..... But if buy another rifle, first on the list is the Vulcan 3 HP .30 Cal.

I'll be the first to tell you, most of my shots with my airguns are either leaning against something, from the golf cart, or from inside my car out the window because my job allows me too. Putting a bipod on that gun could have definitely yielded more hits, but also the wind could've just slightly shifted 🤷‍♂️. All in all still a great time! How much more fpe does it have over the vulcan 3 30?

It was with the .25 Cal.

It is about 76 fpe and shooting NSA slugs 29 grain.
