Walther 1250 Dominator .177 pcp adventure

So a while back, the bargain gate listed a sale on the Walter Dominator 1250 pcp, think it was $120, free shipping iirc. I ordered one, (because why not?) and when it came, looked at it to make sure it was all there, and let it sit. I read a couple reviews, including one that mentioned a easy fill adapter, using a probe, vs unscrewing the cylinder and using and adapter. The kit cost a little more than the gun did, but it went in pretty easy, and didn’t leak when it was pressurized. Time to shoot it. It did really well with the pellets named as best in the reviews, but I figured since it makes light pellets supersonic, I would try slugs in it. First I decided to tame the bark, courtesy of TKO and I ordered the NSA sample in 12.5 grain, and this thing loves them. I didn’t get many calm days to try it on, but when it was calm I could put 3 slugs into an inch circle at 80 yards. I ordered a box of 400, have my first slug gun, or first one that actually prefers slugs, particularly at range. Been having a good time with 2 inch gongs at 50-75 yards. Still have to get out the chrono and check it, graph it for velocity vs pressure, but it has been fun, and I can readily get slugs for it, pellet situation being what it is.

Good to know these guns are potentially capable of shooting slugs well. A lot of people on GTA predicted they would not shoot well in the choked barrel. Looks like I'll be ordering some soon.

I also took advantage of that insane blowout deal from Umarex.

To be honest, I originally didn't care for the gun. It's extremely loud, especially with lighter pellets since they're breaking the sound barrier. The automatic safety was annoying and it wasn't particularly accurate out the box.

Well, that all changed recently. After a good cleaning of the barrel, the gun became extremely accurate. Even shooting 7.9 gr Crosman HP well over 1,000 FPS I was able to put 3 magazines (24 shots) in a group well under an inch at 30 yards. After shooting the gun for a while, taking the gun off safety prior to a shot became second nature. Though I'm going to eventually do the safety mod.

I recently did the trigger mod as seen in the Airgun Detectives video for the Hammerli 850 and wow...what a difference that made. The lighter trigger pull shrunk my groups significantly. I als rcently discovered my gun shoots Crosman Premier Domes 10.5, lights out. Half inch groups at 30 yards.

At $120, this gun was a steal and a half.
