Walther Reign filling problem

Hi all,
Happy Holidays!

I know this same issue has come up in a prior thread, but I don’t think I saw it resolved..

I tried to set up a brand new Walther Reign yesterday. Right out of the box noticed that the fill port plug above the pressure gage was missing. At first I thought I lost it, but my wife, who gave me the rifle for Christmas, swore there was no plug when she got the rifle and checked it over. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the problem, which is that I cannot get the rifle to fill at all. The gages on the compressor and the rifle don’t move. The problem seems to be with the rifle, not with the compressor, the air lines, the fill probe or the Air Venturi QD adapter. I’ve tested everything, and when I use the test plug that came with my compressor, the pressure valve rises every time. Even with my fingers over the holes in the fill probe, the pressure on the compressor gage increased. It is only when I insert the probe into the rifle’s fill port that there is no increase in air pressure. As per the instructions, I made sure to cock the lever for the first fill, but I cannot get any air pressure into the rifle. I dry fired a few times, but still nothing. I’m very frustrated. Any suggestions for what I can do differently and for why this is happening? Thank you!

Mike -

When you say that you "cock" the gun...are you doing a full pull the lever back then return it to its home position ?
Or are you pulling the lever back and leaving it in the "half-cocked" position ?

You should be leaving it in the half-cocked position, or the lever sticking out.

No problems with my Reign, and yes, you should have received a plug in the filler port to keep garbage out.
It's been a great little gun.
Some guns just have problems. I have one, brand name gun that the gauge needle has frozen in place ! I just use the gauge on my filler tank to fill, and guess, when it's time...to fill. I'll be buying some goodies out of the UK, and can get a replacement gauge, so I guess it's time to make it right !

Hi Mike,
Yes, I only half cock it.
I guess I’ll have to order a plug.
I’ve been told twice now that because x the rifle came to me completely depressurized, my little 4500 psi compressor won’t be able to manage the fill. Instead, I need to get a burst of air from a scuba tank to close a valve. Then I should be able to fill it from my compressor. I wish the instructions mentioned that, and being a newbie to airgunning, I never would have figured that out on my own. Now, to find a scuba shop or fire department that can help….

Different gun, as mine is a Walther Rotek (all sealed up with an intact double box), but mine did not come fill port plug either, hence I had to order one from PA.

You may have to get one this one:

If it does not work, which I doubt, with the proper plug, then tap the valve section as well as the fill port section with a rubber mallet whilst filling.

I have the fill probe (the same one in that link). It’s the plug that covers the hole to keep gunk out that I was talking about.
Hopefully everything works out for the best!
Thank you…
