Want to be worth while

This is not a self pity deal. I was like many in the beginning here, just looking to post enough to sell stuff. Then I became enamored with all the cool stuff here! Now, IDK, 6 years later, I feel I’m running out of worthy contributions, big part of it is personal range access. I have ZERO! Have to now rely on firearms public range hour and a half away. Eastern Long Island, known for windy weather. Limited funds blocks cutting edge access to new stuff, mora, epic 1. Etc. how do I continue to contribute? Ahhh, feeling a bit bummed 🫤. Sorry about the pity semi rant, lol!

I feel you on this, I try to contribute to the group as much as I can or try to learn from others. I use my airguns everyday for hours since it's literally work and fun, but I hardly ever have time to share my experiences unless I'm going out of my way to test things for someone in the group that curious.

I think the forum is slowing down anyways. Highs and lows. As for getting the new hotness when it comes out, what's the point? Most of it is just another reinvention of the same wheel.

Sucks you don't have anywhere to shoot. I only have 35 yards at the house and not much time to go places to shoot distance. It's an hour away for me to hit an outdoor range, or further away for any serious squirrel hunting. It's too hot for all that right now anyway.

Just kidding with the above post, the point is just to be helpful when you can...Too many people complain here . Your thoughts you posted are a way for people to think about their own air gunning experiences....Lack of funds, no place to shoot, etc, many people can relate and tell their own stories, Yes Complain,it is ok,it is called relating .

Being here talking to strangers in a civil manner is contributing to the community.

99% of my shooting is 10m in the “Parlor.” LOL. But I can weed out pellets the guns hate in the 10m screening and see what shakes out later on while on safarI. I get out on safari only a few times a year.

i have a contract to fill on some reds…not commies, squirrels you dope. I will share photos of the vermin.

I am here to learn and contribute what I can.

If only it was the other reds, we might be better off!

I feel the same way @rangur1. I don’t have much to post about but try to contribute when I can.
I used to go to our old range at least once a month, now I go to Calverton once in awhile. I’m lucky it’s less than 10 minutes away for me. Was there Friday in the blazing heat and humidity (at least there was a breeze) getting pelted by spent shells from the guy two benches to my left, hearing protection is a must, stayed for about 2 hour, still better than nothing but man, I miss the old range.. I ordered an umbrella and bracket to mount to the bench, no way I can sit out in the sun like that while I’m shooting. I’m on the hunt for some private land to shoot on, I have some good possibilities lined up, will see how it plays out.

Here’s my best 5 shot group at a hundred yards with my U2 .30

There is nothing in the rules that states "you must contribute worthy content " . Content of any kind is welcome , just participate in some conversations . About the no place to shoot ?????????????? one very well known contributor shoots @ 7 yards (21 feet) indoors .
When i was a kid i thought Long Island was just another part of New York City / tall buildings and traffic jams . and i know of hunters on long island .
Pesting the farms could give you a place to shoot . Here in my basement i have a target that is only 12 feet distance i shoot a Daisy 717 at.
Stan in KY.
I personally know a friend that shoots " out the kitchen door ,through the small yard , into the garage window ,across the garage and finally hits the target " , Yes he shoots on a small city lot 38 feet wide and 96 feet long .

@rangur1 - Have you considered an indoor range? All you need is a Beeman P17 and an old pair of jeans in a box for a back stop to get started. The P17 has to be the best bang for the buck pistol on the market.

I have to travel to shoot as well, it is part of the "ambiance" of shooting for me. Perhaps there is a closer location? Maybe a friend of a friend or a farm that has a pest problem?

The main goal of this forum is to bring like minded people together and share information. No one can contribute a 100% of the time, don't worry and be happy.

Well, my 10 yard private range in the garage / backyard is the primary. However, not useful for 30-60 yard pellet or 50-100 yard slug shooting which I enjoy and learn tons from everytime I actually do it.

OK then you need to find enjoyment in driving 1.5 hours to the range . OR scale down the targets and gun you use on your home range , simulate the 100 yards .

There are MANY of us who once were VERY active and very motivated to garner info, contribute info or actually lucky enough to have a think tank of fellow members to bounce ideas off of 🤪
By in large that ship has sailed and I also find myself these past few years in a serious lull of enthusiasm for the AG sports or shooting in general.
Having two very close Friends who also shared the love of air gunning Pass Away in the last couple years surely has not helped in this funk feeling.

So your post is very relatable o_O

I've found boundless grounds of fertile fields in philosophical contributions. 🥴

Does this contribution make my head look fat? 🤤

Lack of participation by the Experienced can and will lead to Newcomers from wanting to join. If they feel that their contributions are deemed "Unworthy" it will most likely lead to their Giving up. Talking down to the Newbies can be bad for business. Ever wonder why the List of Members is usually less than a Third of the Visitors?

My love of airguns (or shooting in general) has seldom waned, but my love of forums wanes periodically. You can be one of the few, those noble, patient, few that answer the same questions over and over (no doubt helping untold newbies, but it can be tiresome) or you can wait for a moment to shine, when that rare opportunity presents itself to provide information that belongs to you, and few others. Or you can lurk. There is nothing wrong with any of those approaches, and I suspect that most of us past the point of initial rabid enthusiasm are some combination of the above.

One of the most painful in helping newer members is seeing most unwilling to help themself to information that is already in print going back years !!! ( SEARCH )
Most seek having an immediate conversation and somewhat expecting the knowing members to take them by the hand therefor having to state or say what has been said Many many many times before. That is for many experienced in the AG world a daunting task to do over & over again.

Myself who has contributed Mountains of information on the AG forums these past 12 years or so perhaps I'm getting jaded & burnt out to some degree ?
I like challenges, new frontiers to explore in design & application. As one might say ... DOWN the RABBIT HOLE we Go !!!!

Just thoughts, please don't be offended ;)
