Wanted; 30 cal. pellet mould

Aloha, I'm in Hawaii and just got into high pressure air rifles and purchased hatsan blitz. I'm looking to purchase a 30 cal. pellet mould. Wondering what's available.

One place....

Do they sell only molds, or also swage dies?

Yeah, I'm really new at this, too....

Matthias

Accurate, Arsenal, and NOE only sell molds for casting. Swaging is a different process and result.

I only cast .257 and larger but if I had the small calibers, .250 and less, I’d swage them for better results.

However NOE does sell sizing bushings for presses.

durbs and coffeepan,

thanks for chiming in. 👍🏼

Since I'm so new at this I'm a little overwhelmed at all the processes, parts and pieces — would you explain what sizing bushings are, i.e., what for would I need those?

Also, I keep reading about resizing slugs and/or pellets, for example, from 0.218 to 0.2165. Is that a separate piece of equipment from a swage press, or just another tool I need to attach to the swage press?

Thanks. 😊

Sizing bushing is something you put in a reloading press used to describe exactly what your question was. It takes a larger diameter bullet and sizes to your specified diameter. For example, I cast for my Texan and I cast at .459 and then I run those bullets through my sizing bushing in my press, and I resize down at .45720. For my 30 cal, I cast at .303 and then size down to .30076.

You can take a swaged bullet and run it through a sizer to get it down to your specified diameter.

You can use the bushing/sizing die set in the swage press, or buy a separate press dedicated just to the re-sizing. The separate press dedicated to sizing is the best way to go, especially when experimenting for the best barrel/slug combination.

You've been very helpful on several threads now, I really appreciate it!! 😊

How would the separate, dedicated resizing press be better than using a resizing die in my swage press?
I assume that a separate resizing press would cost considereably more?

I mentioned getting a separate dedicated sizing press because once you find an accurate shooting slug (length, weight, point style and depth, ect) you probably won't want to "disturb" the swaging die set's settings in the swage press. A dedicated Lee Breech Lock Single Stage Press used just for sizing is fairly inexpensive and saves time and efforts re-setting up the swage press every time you are swaging more slugs versus sizing.
