Wanting to add a pistol to arsenal

Ok have a semi auto marauder in 22 now and would love to add a pistol to the pcp family. Going to get a 45 cal rifle as well

i will use the pistol for chipmunk/ground squirrels, rabbits in yard type varmints, plinking and just fun

do I did the p rod or a bull pup type?

also what cal in a pcp handgun would it take to kill a small deer at 20-30yards top distance? Just curious

prod is king of the yard .. id say for deer your gonna want minimum 100 ft lbs whatever you go with and be sure to check legalities that may apply like caliber etc depending on area ..

Can also become a carbine

It wont kill a deer but it will most racoonn sized critters. Super accurate and super powerful.

The prod make a better carbine than a pistol imo. Same with the 1720T. Both are adequate for backyard pesting duties up to squirrel size. I do like mine. 

With a budget of $1000 most everyone would recommend the AP16. Can’t go wrong there as far as I can see. But it’s strictly a pistol. Well there is a carbine kit for it but it looks ridiculous. 

This little pistol intrigues me however. Super easy stock install/removal. With a reflex sight you could switch back and forth from carbine to pistol real simple and fast.

there’s one with a wood grip but it’s strictly a pistol. No carbine stock option for it

as far as what pistol would be adequate for deer? Have no idea what ever it is wouldn’t interest me because it most certainly wouldn’t be backyard or indoor friendly.

All three of the guns mentioned;

Crosman Marauder pistol. 

HW44 a very nice regulated gun. I have one and it is great in pretty much every way.

AP16

would do very well for your pistol needs.

I have a Custom built 2240 similar to a Prod now and an HW44 both shoot .5 to .75 in groups at fifty yards.

There are some less expensive China made guns that may werq also but you never know what you are going to get when you go there.

Ap16. I have one and I love it. It's very high quality and a blast to shoot. It was between the hw44 and the ap16 for me, and I went with the ap16 because of the size and the fact that the hw44 has a permanent moderator. I like the fact that I can use different size moderators on the ap16 and I can remove them and fit it into a pistol case and put it in my backpack. Also I do have a 1720t and I love that gun too, even though I only use it as a carbine

My vote goes to the Crosman 1701P with a larger TP from the 1720T. Dead nuts accurate and still a pistol and won't break your budget.

Another vote for the AP16.
