Wicked Air Rifles is working up a prototype .257 based off the Flex platform. I really don't have all the particulars on the project. I heard the plans are with a 28" barrel with a 14" twist, with the intended ammo being the Lyman 257420 in GC or BT versions.
I was just wondering if there is more interest in a long range .257cal besides myself?

Travis has been working with the Cothran valve and I assume it will be used to make enough power in .257. The Flex is based off the Marauder. Same tube diameter same valve as the WAR valves in a standard Flex.

I am basing that off of Travis's own words prior to the release of the Flex. Unless something changed, the Flex is an upgraded marauder in different clothes. Maybe I am mistaken, but based on what Travis told me the Flex is basically a badass marauder. My .30 Marauder performs almost exactly like a Flex.

AJ you couldn't be more wrong in your statement I own a Flex and a Marauder and have had both apart and I'll say this for a fact they have no similar parts what so ever. Maybe they used a marauder to prototype the Flex some how but as far as the Flex being a high tech marauder that is just poor information, the only thing I see that is similar is their short tube is same ID and OD as a Mrod but beyond that not even close to the same. JMHO Berky any idea when the barrels and probe for the Flex will be available in 257? I'd be game to try it out, lot cheaper buying a barrel then buying a whole new gun.

I understand the gun has many advanced features, but I was told the Flex used the same WAR valves sold for marauders and was basically a totally new designed gun but marauder influenced. That info came from Travis as the Flex was about to come to market. I understand that nothing on the gun is a Marauder part and actually wasn't trying to knock the Flex other than price. Just like many have used the QB as a base to build big bores, I was led to believe that the Flex is a perfected advanced version of a Marauder.

Edit: For the record, my only opinion is they missed the price point. The rest of my statements were based on what I was told by the guy that builds the guns. I do think the Flex is a really cool gun and I would own one if they had a traditional rifle stocked version.

I apologize. I based my statements on what Travis told me and what performance numbers Flex owners have posted.

I think the gun is really cool and has tons of awesome features. Again, my only opinion was price. The rest of my statements were solely based on what Travis personally told me. Since this got brought up on his site by Travis himself, I apologize for hurt feelings. I do think the price point is a bit high. That is an opinion. Other than that, sorry I took what the builder told me the wrong way. And, it wasn't meant to be negative about the gun. A perfected bad ass Marauder doesn't sound like a negative statement to me?? Sounds like a damn compliment. I believe if people go back and read the positive accuracy I left Tim Tebow, you would see that I am glad to see awesome USA built airguns!!

Let's get this back on topic! Berky any word on the .257 barrel system for the Flex? I can call him and ask but if your in the know I'd be super happy to know what you know. I know they already have a .308 barrel system that makes over 200fpe with just the barrel swap and hammer adjustment. This bodes well for a .257 set up. Long range squirrel hammer is what I'm thinking!

Tim, I know a little about whats going on but not enough to "accurately" repeat. I don't want to misinform anyone. Please talk to Travis and post your intel .
With that being said, I do know when this does happen, I will be getting a complete gun. I like my 30cal "setup" and will not be disturbing it. I want a gun totally dedicated to the .257
