was thinking of trying a modular moderator but..

I've been thinking of trying a modular moderator such as the Ryu or Yokozuna
or maybe a impulse air 1350 -1200.
my question is why they would recommend a 30 Cal mod for a 25 Cal?
i had thought they were sized to caliber to keep quiet or maybe because I'm shooting 30-34g slugs.
also recommend i buy a couple extra baffles which makes sense for tuning purposes.
i have no issue with the factory hollow can that came with it its quiet and shoots well.
i was just thinking maybe with a modular you could tune better by adding or taking away baffles.
but i had also thought to stay correct to caliber due to it will be a louder bark? not sure 100%
what's your thought?

It's the price you pay for modularity. There's tolerance stack up at play. To get it really precise, with a lot of pieces in the part, would cost a lot, so instead, they open up the hole to prevent baffle strike. So you get a little more noise, a reasonable cost, and a modular set up. Really, it's about economics. Every screw joint has a tolerance or position slop to it. You can make a better fit, but it costs more to make.

The .05 difference between using a .30 mod on a .25 gun will make little to no discernable difference in sound dampening quality. It's always nice to have that .05 extra clearance to even further avoid clipping if trying new & untested ammo in a gun.
Agreed , I have all .25 caliber for my .22 guns, as suggested by UA Guns long ago. I have .25 & .30 Buck Rail moderators & no noise difference that I could tell.

here's my experience with a modular moderator on the issue:

Good to know as I bought a Vulcan 3 30cal awaiting its arrival.
