...wonder why you wouldnt completely seat the breech seal #9 oring in there ? seems like it would get knicked upon closing to pump again. this s.o.b. sure has some power for pistol , tho... it's hard to get four pumps , but 600 fps with 14 grainers... and loud as 'shoot' .. .

If you haven't changed the bleed valve setting you are probably wasting time with anything beyond 3 pumps as they seem to usually bleed off just a bit of even a third pump. I did the mod on the first one I bought but not in order to pump a 4th time. I did it just to be sure that it didn't vent any of the third pump.

.. they were pumping 5x's and bragging shortly after these came out , i sold a few .. roger williams (then owner of webley) met me here as he was campaigning them to bas pro , cableas ,and retailers like that here in the d/fw area (n.texas) ... i remember how loud it was then in his car at razoo's... that was 2010 , though. i was too busy getting him to give us some patriots and tomahawks.. he was cool , tho .. -- but like i was saying, the fellas were doing some mod with some screw , or port , or something.... but this one was a demo to show off around - i got both cals or alecto and alecto ultra.. (this was before they did it in .20 cal) . this one shoots 30-40 fps faster on 4 pumps , but it's a bitch... 5 pumps would be pretty hard on the gun , no ? if you dont mind me asking , what does yours chrono on 3 pumps ? ... and if i dont shoot mine rt away on 4x's , it'll even back down to 3x's in a few mins , hours , or how does that work ? - paul. .....

I don't have any chronograph numbers on hand for the Alecto as it's been a long time since I initially worked on it. I may have posted it on GTA at some point and I will look for any record I have for that session-it is written down somewhere. If you listen carefully during the very end of the CLOSING stroke, there is a slight hiss you can usually hear at the third pump that isn't heard at first or second pumps. That is the pressure bleed opening to bleed off "excess" pressure. There is a screw adjustment to that bleed valve that can be accessed with a bit of disassembly-a video was available at one time showing how to do it. What I've read in the past indicated that there is often a fairly wide range of settings for these bleed valves as assembled with some hearing little to no release on the third pump and some hearing quite a lot. I could hear mine so I closed the screw (quite a bit open as I recall) and opened it 1/8 turn IIRC as advised on the original video. I did fire it a couple of times on 4 pumps but as noted closing effort is high and I didn't want to overstress the frame. Three pumps on an Alecto is quite powerful for an air pistol.

As to the above that "this one shoots 30-40 fps faster on 4 pumps", that one may be bleeding at just a bit higher pressure than some that seem to bleed at the end of the third pump as mine did, probably just tolerance in the valve or the setting as stock. I wanted to contain all air on the third pump but had no desire to pump to 4 regularly. No desire to stress the polymer frame to that degree on a regular basis. The pistol might do fine with that force and pressure but it might not.

A bit of information about the Alecto in the above forum thread. Unfortunately the video showing how to adjust the pressure relief seems to be gone from the linked site now. It isn't particularly difficult but I would suggest taking pictures as you go so that the side plates and springs can be placed in the correct orientation on reassembly. Again, I have no interest in using 4 pumps due to stress on the frame but if one wants to do so it isn't that difficult.

Man I sure wished they still sold the Webley -alecto,

I wonder why they stopped making and selling them.

Just after I bought my P 11 and was not real happy with the performance , I tried to buy a Alecto from Pyramyd air I was told they stopped making and selling them for lack of demand,
