graycrait:@scottblair , Even though at 70 yrs I am virtually a babe in swaddling clothes compared to you. I do not have the pedigree with air pistols that you have had in the past. I came to the SSP game just a few short months ago. I have had 2 717s, both nice shape, but needed resealing, even I could do it. I paid one 717 forward to fella I know in TX and the other 717 is likely going to Oregon in swap for some aluminum arrows.
The two 777's I have are the result of having the money when they became available and moving on the purchase quickly, no quibbling. I had to buy the pair and it appears they had been sitting in their display and shipping boxes since circa '86. After rebuilding and shooting them. plus getting an aftermarket wood Ambi grip I really enjoy shooting them. Depending on the day, I like to shoot the 777s more than shooting my Rinked grip 46M. I'm just a dinker and plinker and the 7xx's meet that.
I think a really nice 777 is worth waiting for and how much you pay is up to you. When I got a Daisy 7xx I hurriedly gave away my P17.
Things that make the 777 nice is the rear sight, wood target grip but there are nice aftermarket ones that will fit on all three of the 7's. Did I mention the steel full adjustable rear sight over the plastic sights on the 717 and 747. Then the slightly adjustable trigger and like the other 2 7's you can slightly adjust the power up and down easily with no take down.
Well kiddo, when I was your age..........Haha.
After reading everything I could find about the D700's, it was very apparent that finding a 777 in the near future was not happening. So I was about to bid for a 747, When I received notice from EB that a 777 was just put up for sale in the mid $300 OBO range. Very good condition by the pics.
Kinda high $$. I thought, I'll make an offer. Then,, woke up and realized trying to save $30-40 bucks with this kind of luck, that could sell at any moment, would be nuts. Like you said, "no quibbling" So I Clicked the "buy now" button!!!
Had to pinch myself a couple hours later thinking...can't believe I scored a 777 so quickly,,,did that really happen?!!
My wife wishes id shut up about it, lol.
Have fun!
