Beeman Webley Tempest issue

Hello everyone. I'm new to airgun nation and looking for help regarding a Webley Tempest. At some point in it's life a long time ago, I accidentally pulled the trigger when the gun was half cocked resulting in the the barrel slamming shut. Since then, the gun will half cock, but the barrel will not close (return to normal). The only way to get it to close is to pull the trigger while holding the barrel and slowly let it go down. Does anyone have any idea of what happened and how I can fix it? Thanks, Merlin -

I'm may not be following exactly (how do you "half cock" a Tempest?), but my guess would be the sear and/or its spring has gotten tumbled into some odd position. In the old days, these guns were sold with complete instructions for working on them, including notes on aligning trigger and sear - take a look at the notes and drawings here to see if it helps:

Thanks for the reply. I have the first pamphlet they show, but not the second. I appreciate the help.

Here's a better copy of the trigger assembly instructions - my link above is pretty fuzzy. As a first step, I'd take the trigger guard off and make sure the sear and its spring are correctly positioned. You likely won't need to take the whole mechanism apart.

Please see your messages, too.

Thank you for the diagrams. I will look into this when I get the chance. I will need to find a source to acquire a pin punch, .089 " I believe.
