Other Webley Tempest

I've had some success with giving rougher paint finishes a go over with Car body cutters like T cut.
If that fails, after the light rub down and degrease, you can respray using Krylon satin black weapons paint.
A new forend shroud is easy to get hold of, even the earlier Webley and more desirable Beeman version which is the least garish are held at Knibbs Country store Uk and Proteks Uk has later Spanish versions.
Source some wood grips maybe.
First clean the barrel and degrease the cylinder.

I purchased one in 22 cal and thought it pretty weak so bought a 177 barrel which helped with velocity. I too haven't shot mine in years. I need the plastic foregrip for mine. I haven't really looked for parts but imagine they are scarce. I never was impressed with the Tempest. I expected a bit more power, wanting to use it for a tackle box gun but my expectations was too high for this model I believe.

My Tempest has arrived, wide blade trigger arrived today too, and I have just ordered the walnut grips.
Ran some 7.4gr Econ II pellets and was seeing around 3.3 ftlbs.
Getting it tidied up will be a nice little winter project. 😁

What are the differences RE the Tempest/Premier. Be Well Brothers, dito.
The original Premier was all steel construction, there were a number of variants from 'A' to 'F' IIRC, but happy to be corrected.
The Mk Premier had an alloy body, a bit like a prototype Tempest. It never seems to have got the love of the first version or the Tempest.

The Premier Mk2 was the worst pistol ever made by Webley. Although in itself, still better than many pistols for having the same barrel over cylinder design as all the others.
The issue was due to galling of the cocking stirrup of the cylinder, which was modified for when it turned into the Tempest which does not suffer the same issue. They also tried out serrated assembly pins which wore the location holes bigger and swiftly dropped for roll pins for the Tempest. A much better gun.
The all steel all Premier was a goody with no such issues except for requiring the piston lightened a touch.

I don’t know why, but I scored another Webley/Scott. A buddy out West tipped me off on another one. View attachment 513887View attachment 513889These guns are infectious.
I’m amazed the condition of this honey. Couldn’t of had a lot of use. Until now. View attachment 513891The gentleman I bought it from I’ve talked on the horn a few times. He’s into competition pistol shooting. Already got a few tips. 👍
Love the lever to release the barrel. View attachment 513893I got about 20 rounds off with this pistol. Been well looked after. Shoots great.View attachment 513895Jeff you might have something there. But how do you say no. Crow
I sold mine way back, because it only had what I called Coke Can Accuracy. I had the Bianchi holster and leather pellet pouch for it as well. I replaced it with the new at the time, P1 Magnum.

Thanks. Ya, I’m hooked on the workmanship on these pistols. Too bad, they should still be making them.

I saw that one. The holster and grips are cool. The gun looks beat. It weathered a hunting lodge. Crow
That was my first experience with the modern age of airguns.
I walked into the sporting goods store in town and said, I want a Sheridan .20 cal air pistol. They said well, there is a new airgun store down town called 10 ring. Try them. 10 ring didn't have the Sheridan pistols either, but I walked out with a Beeman Webly Tempest. Lol My first springer. 👍

My first springer as well. I didn't go into a shop looking for one but I walked out with one.
