Weihrauch HW 100 Carbine

In my search for a US Hunter class FT gun, I came across this one. I haven’t been able to find much information on use here. From what I have been able to find , the trigger seems to be well liked, very smooth cocking action, and very well built. I haven’t been able to find much on the barrel quality or the accuracy and how well it is maintaining it. How is the regulator and valve? Does the reg give a pretty consistent output. What FPE are you seeing? Pellet dependent of course. I haven’t really seen it in any of the FT results either that I have looked at. I don’t really wanna bottle gun for FT, even though that seems to be the trend. I like the the look of a cylinder style much better, and there don’t seem to be many choices for this style. I know the RAW and Griffin are there, but I also don’t want to spend $2000+ just on the rifle. Not just yet anyway. Trying to stay under $1300 as I have to buy 2, for my son and I. I know the Marauder is good, but looking at other options.

Their stocks aren't suited for FT unless you at least add a hamster and an adjustable butt hook. They're sporter hunting style reliable and accurate guns with fantastic triggers and bulletproof side lever multishot operation as a whole mostly trouble free aside from a leaker once in a great while. They're heavy guns which is a good thing for your use. Quiet too. LOTS of shots in 12fpe 70 with the K carbine small and 120 for standard tube. YO

I know 2 people selling their 12fpe HW100s one a standard size and one K version. One wants a different gun for FT a Steyr LG110 to be specific. He actually bought his 12fpe HW100 specifically to use for FT and later realized he wanted a more dedicated FT gun instead. Shoot me a PM if you want both sellers contact info. I have several HW100s but all are FAC high power and a couple HW110s one 12fpe 177 it's great but I wouldn't use it for FT. I have a G in B FT stock for a HW100 if you end up buying an HW100 I may be inclined to part with. YO

I've got a first year 2004 model that I have had for 10 years. It was originally an FAC .22 which IMO sucks.

BUT! Turned down some and they are my favorite PCP rifles ever built. The trigger is absolutely top notch, and so is the magazine system.

I've had mine a long time and found it to be very reliable. The worst repair you may need is to replace the regulator orings. Not much to it. If you plan to tinker, consider a regulator tester setup for it. They are under $50 from the UK.

Excellent guns. Probably not the absolute ideal for FT, but they make a great single shot loader and have good weight. Certainly a very good all around rifle.

Hunter class is a 20fpe class, so a 12fpe gun might not be the best option. One would be at a disadvantage shooting 12fpe in that class against others shooting at 20fpe. Also, in terms of butt hooks and hampsters, there are restrictions in Hunter Class. "Forend depth is limited to a maximum of 6 inches, measured from the center of the barrel to the lowest part of the rifle forward of the pistol grip." It would be fairly difficult to put a hampster on and have it be within those limits. In terms of butt hooks, "No butt-hooks or thigh-rests are allowed."

Therefore, a general hunting rifle like the one the OP is bringing forth very well could be a good HFT rifle. It certainly fits the spirit of HFT. "The Hunter Division rules are intended to promote accessibility to the sport of Field Target, and the use of typical hunting equipment. As such, the rules shall enforce limits on the type of allowed equipment, and shall allow for a broad range of competitor physical fitness and conditioning."

The HW 100 Carbine may be just what you are looking for.

I compete with one in sub 12ft/lb with a custom stock and I find it better than my previous 2 steyrs. Many other people tried and will back me up with the following:

trigger? Nice, even better breaking than steyr, not as adjustable (in position) tho

accuracy? As every top rifle

regulator? Awesome, very little variations and very stable with temperature. I get 130-140 shots with a 175cc bottle

it’s much more stable with temperature than any other rifle I tried, it only shoots a little low when below 8 Celsius degrees

I’m not a pro but managed to get some very decent scores with it you can see photos in Weihrauch uy in fb

at 25j, you will get 60 shots per fill with same results I told you with the 175cc and 41cm barrel at the factory you will get around 40 but with little less reg pressure and hammer spring you will find those numbers

I recently bought an HW 100 carbine in .22, with laminate adjustable stock. It is a fantastic rifle. Since mine is a 28 fpe .22, it is not appropriate for FT, but, I believe in .177 it should work fine. I'll mention only 2 things that might be an issue for some folks. The trigger is excellent in terms of quality of let off, but the light end is around 6-7 ounces, and some would want it lighter. Also, the shot count might not get your through a FT course, it's a small cylinder, under 200 cc. The stock configuration is a personal preference. Shooting from position, it is probably not the best. I shoot a lot seated with shooting sticks, and it works very well for me. I'm not FT shooter, but from what I know of it, that seems to work for a Hunter class rifle. I have read that some of the .177 versions have been delivered shooting too hot, probably over the 20 fpe limit. But the hammer spring adjustment is easy, and that should be all that may be needed. I turned mine up a little, and it was a quick and easy job.
