Weihrauch HW 55 stock types

Just because this gets asked from time to time...!

Here are the five basic stock types fitted to the Weihrauch HW 55 target rifle. These are all relatively late-production guns. The 55 was made from the early 1950's to late 1990's, and there are countless minor variations In about every detail.

You are correct. Dr Beeman sold his interest in the company to SR Industries in 1993. Things were more bean-counter dominated after that. Slow sellers like the HW 55 - still beautiful, but expensive and no longer a competitive match gun beyond the local club level - disappeared from the catalog. I think some individual dealers imported a few 55's after that, but not on a true wholesale basis like Beeman.

Weihrauch stopped offering walnut stocks for the 55 around 1990 I think. That being said, they put some interesting design thought into the final runs of the model, which had a very nice, re-designed beech stock with a cheekpiece. The HWB junior rifle was another creative way to use up those old parts!

ALL beauty's very nice wonder if i can find a lefty Tyrolean stock ?
For what it's worth...a traditional Tyrolean design such as HW's, has this interesting shallow "saddle" on the opposite side from the cheekpiece. Most folks find this allows pretty comfortable shooting from the "wrong" side, so if you ever run into a righty Tyro, don't dismiss it out of hand.

That looks a lot more pronounced than mine. It was shootable from the left side but not real comfortable. That one looks like it could be better for me. That is why I sold mine. Still looking for a lefty and now maybe a righty. Thanks.
