Weihrauch HW100 bullpups

One of the best kept secrets it seems, is the OAL of the USA spec HW100 bullpup and the HW100 Carbine. Just by the pictures the air cylinders are different sizes and the barrels obviously. The AOA site lists the OAL of the standard as 40 inches, 2 inches shorter than the standard rifle? The air cylinder size is listed as 105cc in the one place it is listed, but the cylinders vary in length based on pictures. I was just interested in shot count and over all length between the carbine and standard bullpup. I don’t own a bullpup, have shot one a few times, and am looking at getting one. Can’t really see the idea of a bullpup practically as long as the rifle. I wish there was one with the barrel length between the carbine and standard, as there seems to be in UK spec std bullpup HW100.

I own both the .177 and .22 full length HW100 Bullpups. The cylinder on both is 175cc and the barrel length is 24 inches not counting the suppressor. I can't speak for the carbine. Shot count on the .22 is 28 and shot count on the .177 is 32. The .22 shoots one hole groups with CPHP at 20 yds and the speed is 976 (according to the FX chrony). The .177 will hurl a Crossman 7.9 premium light at 1080 fps and a JSB Exact Heavy at 981.

Here is the .177. The .22 looks the same.

Mine is the actual "bullpup". A put the Donny Tatsu suppressor on it. It's shorter than the Weihrauch and even though it's shorter, it's also a little quieter. The length on mine isn't representative of the "as delivered" gun. While I've not done a shot count, yes, the short cylinder does cut in on, and shorten the shot count. It doesn't bother me.

As Charlie states, not only the trigger, but the whole gun is designed, and machined VERY well. Most other gun manufacturers could take a lesson in detail design from Weihrauch

One note, Is your hand size. I decided to modify the grip on mine, because it was not comfortable with my little finger resting on the lower / larger edge of the grip. Also the heal of my hand also sat on the lower "ledge" of the grip, so that's now gone also. Much more comfortable.

I have the HW100 BP-K in .177. It sends Polymags (it's favorite) down range at 977 fps. I have no problem taking out 1/2" paint balls at 50 yards if the wind is light. It also likes the JSB 8.44 domes, Mako 10.5g. slugs to 50 yards, and most all others do well out to 35 yards. I have 3 magazines and refill after shooting them. (42 shots with no poi change) Total length with the stock moderator is just under 29". The air tube is marked .105L / .028 gal (US). If they offered the BP with a 410mm barrel here in the states, I would buy a .22 today.

When the HW100BP was introduced, all of the reviews of them had the BP version (not the K model) with a 410mm barrel and a longer higher capacity air cylinder. However, I've never been able to find this version at any retailer, U.S. or overseas. No offense intended to anyone who owns an HW100BP with the 610mm barrel, but it has no appeal to me to want a 40" long bullpup. It looks proportionate with the 410mm barrel, but it just looks out of proportion with a 610mm barrel. Look at the photos below for the unobtainable version vs. the rifle length barrel. If someone has a link to a retailer who sells the 410mm barrel HW100BP, please PM me or post a link.

Humdinger -

Point of interest -

The "bullpup" was originally designed as a CQB (close quarters combat) gun. Note the word, "close". A gun to be used, indoors. With walls and doors that would be in the way of the easy maneuvering of a 33"-40" (M4, AK, M14 etc.) long gun. Ever tried doing a 180, the point of aim of a M14 or full sized M4 rifle in a home's hall? Not...an easy thing to do. Hence, the bullpup.

A long barrel, so called, bullpup, is more on the lines of a..."rear mounted receiver" gun.
