Beeman Weihrauch HW30S($4.40) for less than a McDonalds Happy Meal($5.69)

Gun is finished, so figured I'd better post some follow-up information and pictures.

Layout of parts.

Could not find a factory rear cap, so ended up turning one on the lathe. Turned out Ok, but can you tell I'm not a machinist. LOL

Stripped the stock and used dye to add some color to the blotchy Beech. Then a few coats of Tru-Oil with some dye added to help blend.

Great job! Turned out great, how is the bore on that rifle. It is the only thing I see that could make a difference in performance from a newer gun. It is definitely transformed to a very nice rifle, and what a reward for your efforts!!!
The bore looks good and feels smooth after cleaned and polished with JB bore paste. The choke seems a little tight on this one.
_Initial chrony results after a few shots_
AA Diabolo Express 7.87 gr..........558fps... 5.44fpe

Will re-test and check accuracy after the leather piston seal conforms to the tube.

Those are great numbers! 7.87 grain on my newer 30s was only 536.8 fps, but only had a spread of 4.35 for 10 shots, and under a dime at 20 yards.

My most accurate luckily,, is JSB RS @ 632 fps with a 15 fps spread when new. But after 1000 RS pellets and many other kinds and rounds. Today shoots them @ 6335 fps, and a much better 8.46 fps ES, cutting one hole for those shots under a dime @ 20 yards.

But in all honesty, these guns will shoot about any premium pellet to the same POI, with good enough accuracy to dispatch any pest out to 25 to 30 yards reliably.

Not a match rifle, but a great little compact, liteweight pest control gun. Plus one of my most fun guns to shoot!!!

Recently rescued this neglected HW30S from a local auction house. Cost less than five bucks out the door, so can't complain about its looks.

This one is stamped with Beeman's Precision Airguns Inc., but no R7 branding. The Weihrauch website dates it to 1977 and the R7's first appeared in the 1982 BPA guide.

Should be a fun project. Will update this thread as repairs progress.
If anyone has a spare trigger guard or rear cap, let me know.
looks like someone killed a bear with it.
