Here's my HW55 DST. Very early serial numbers. Mj102...very nice job restoring that 55! Everyone else. ...especially specie....beautiful rifles!!!!

The double set trigger is in a class by itself. Once you pull the set trigger, it's ounces to fire it. Loads of fun though! I have an LG55 with the same trigger. Also a hoot to shoot!
Some say that the DST unit itself is worth more than the rest of the gun. Lol If you ever get the opportunity to buy one, grab it! They are rare as hens teeth.

Man what a lovely stock. I have still to get the chance to grab an LG55. And yes I’d absolutely grab one of those triggers if I had the chance. Sounds like something you’d display on a collection by itself LOL

Picked this HW55 MM up from a local pawn shop in 2020 for less than $100. Updated the spring, leather piston and breech seals were in great condition, cleaned lubed and updated spring with one from ARH. This one is a keeper, just ask my sons.

My 55M. Stock was scratched and dented so I refinished it with London Oil. Metal work needed re-bluing. The "HW55M" is a little faint but it's there. Installed new breech seal and leather piston seal (I bought a synthetic piston seal conversion kit but opted for a new leather seal) along with a Maccari spring. Turned out really nice. Shoots even better.

Kingfisher61: That is the loveliest early alloy-buttplate 55 I've ever seen - let alone one with the double-set trigger! Scott is a real pro, and that is a real treasure.
Going back to the super original post, HW always preferred the leather piston seal in the 55 as they thought it shot smoother. But it did change to plastic at some point, at least for Beeman US imports. I have one from 1992 with an OEM plastic seal.

Thanks MD!!! Scott revitalized the leather seal. Shooting at around 650fps.
Serial number is 8118 so very early specimen. The front site is definitely old school.
This old girl is a special one indeed. A lot of sweat equity and talent went into its finish.
