N/A Weihrauch hw97 or Air Arms TX200

I have owned several of each. The only one I have left is a Weihrauch 97 in .20. O find the 77/97 rifles to be much less maintenance and incredibly accurate.
Please explain the maintenance difference. The only maintenance I have had with my TX is a new spring about every 20,000 shots or so. Other than that......none.

IF I had my 'druthers; AA would offer a .20 and HW would ditch the AMBI;
but then I'm a curmudgeon.

I started with TX in 2007 and never noticed the anti-beartrap that seems to bother so many. It gets depressed in an unconscious fashion while shooting. If I had started with HW it would likely bother me.
I have only one HW97, bought a few months back. It, like several other recently purchased HW BB (95X2, and one 98) is a clangy, ratcheting mess. But that is not the fault of the design, it is a fault of whatever is going on with HW as my older HW were not that bad.

I have 3 TX200HC bought between 2007 and 6mos ago. All are very consistently smooth and accurate, and the triggers are surprisingly good out of the box. Counting a large number of HW record triggers over the same period about 1/3 absolutely needed service to equal the AA CD trigger. The triggers are very similar and easy to service once the gun is apart. I obviously own a spring compressor so the 97 isn't that big an issue.

If I shoot offhand, the port issue is not a problem for me but at a bench, I find TX to be fiddly in .177. I am a fumbly old man.

IF HW would pull their socks up, the price difference would be a consideration as either can deliver the mail.

Good post. The 2 most consistent shooters in our group are myself and my buddy Sam. We are both long time centerfire benchrest shooters.We both shoot pretty much like we do in that game. Front rest and rear bag, free recoil. We try not to touch the gun when firing the shot . I very lightly touch the pistol grip but Sam does not. Everyone else seems caught up in the artillery hold which we laugh at. My wife also shoots free recoil and she will take your lunch money real quick. I will see if I have a pick of our set up to include. Sam shoots a pair of 97s. I really don't see one as being more accurate than the other. As far as why I changed the spring, I was getting shone bad shots that I did not think was me. I know when I shoot a shot that strays because I made a mistake for the most part. So I checked the velocity and was down 100 fps. Spring I took out was not broken but had a double twist, you could see where the break would occur. There is a pic of Sam with his set up. Sam shoots group after 3 shot group at 20 meters that look like 1 pellet was shot. Not 2 or 3 in a row I am talking 10 to 15. I think both his 77s he bought used..

What scope does he use?

Verydon. You didn't ask but I use Sightron and Hawke. Only thing I don't like about Hawke are the reticles. Too busy for my liking. I like just cross hairs and a dot. You can only shoot what you can see. It seems like the Airgun world hasn't discovered scopes over 12x. I shoot 20 or 24x. Sam's scopes go up to 40x.

Ok what Sightron are you using, I've had 4 of them and still have a 4-16X42 big sky but it's a milldot. While I'm at it what pellets do you guys shoot?

I have 4 Stacs. 3 are 4-20 and one is 3-16 and 2 SVED 10-50×60s . Sam is shooting the light AA pellets in the blue tin. I shoot AA 10.3 or 8.4 in the TX or JBS 8.44. 10.3 AA or 8.44 JBS in the one 75 and JBS 8.44 in the other. In the D54 .22 its JBS 15.89 or JTS Dead Center in 16.08. I don't lube and mostly don't sort except I do weigh for a match occasionally just to get rid of the crazy ones.

Thanks for the info. I shoot QYS 8.48 in both my 97K and prosport, but also shoot JSB 8.44 sometimes. I'm going to try some H&N baracuda 8 at some point, they are also 8.44. I've had a variety of scopes on my 97K over the years, currently there's a Hawke Aixmax 2-7X32 on it just for fun. Prosport has a Athlon Midas Tac 6-24X50 FFP on it, and it has impressed me with it's ranging ability. I was using Sightrons back before they were as popular as they are now. They make great scopes and lifetime warranty. All mine were Japanese made.

First of all, I have no "knock" on the Air Arms. I have owned several TXs and ProSports, as well as PCPS. They are terrific and first class quality. It just seemed to me that I had more "cold" POI adjustment requirements with the Air Arms springers than the Weihrauchs. About every time I pulled the AA rifles out of the vault, it would require some minor POI adjustments - much less so with the Weihrauchs. Also, I found it hard to beat the Rekord trigger in the Weihrauchs for maintenance and adjustability. But again, I loved them both.
