I will try to explain this best I can as I don’t think this is usual. I have a 25 Maverick compact. I currently run the second reg about 100 bar. The first reg was around 135-140 but I bumped it a little but not sure exactly. Anyway, I tuned the gun at 100 bar on PW 7 to get the max speed for 25.39 with the internal adjuster. I then turned the internal screw down just a touch when I found this point. Now that puts me around 900-912 fps very consistently. I also have a digital gauge on my gun. I notice if I shoot power wheel 7 that reg recovers right near that 100 bar every time. Now the weird part. Drop to PW 5 and as I shoot and watch the digital gauge the plenum starts to fill to a lower pressure than pw 7 and where it was set to begin with. It will start filling to 97 bar. Extreme spread suffers on 5 but most shots stay 860’s -870 some in the 880’s. However it will inevitably shoot a dud somewhere in the string like clock work. It will be like 840 or 830. When this happens the plenum pressure doesn’t even recover to 97. It might be like 95 bar. Then the gun will fire one or two additional low power shots, seemingly until enough air is taken out of the plenum that it recharges properly. It’s weird. Basically as you strike the valve with less power the plenum fills to a lower pressure. I don’t think this is usual. I’m curious who makes a better reg than these stupid amp regs for a Maverick as it seems a reg issue. Oh, and I am waiting a long time between shots to ensure replenish time. I guess does anyone else with a digital gauge on their Maverick notice this trend at lower power wheel settings?
