Welcome to the Wild World of AirGun shooting.
Good to see another springer shooter teaching his boys the right way of ag shooting starting with the basics. The R series are a good start to a stable. Ever shoot the Hw 97k? .20 cal. 97k is one heck of a hunter. Is your R1 modified? Lots of goodies to add to all the springers and this is a good place to find out how to do it. If you get a chance to read RBest post, do it. The guy knows more about springers than all of us combined.:)
Your Pro-Sport is another great gun. The TX 200 is a good under lever from AA.
Find yourself a friendly rancher and get those boys on ground squirrels. Great hunting.

With the airguns, our favorite hunting is for jacks. I use my R1 and my boys hunt with their Discoveries. We most often hunt up in Mono county, but I have considered trying the high desert too. Hunting jacks with an airgun is HARD work and quite a challenge. But they make for great eating if prepared well, so there is a reward at the end of a successful hunt. 

I'm considering building up a Discovery for my own use, but have so far resisted that urge. There is some satisfaction in hunting with 50+ year old technology that can still get the job done well.

Never tried an hw97k, but am sure that I would find it an excellent gun and a great hunter. My "problem" is already having too many airguns and not enough time to shoot them all.

My .177 R1k was self tuned with a 12fpe vortek kit and the .177 pro sport was tuned by Rob Hawkins. The R1k is deadly on small game inside of 30 yards. Beyond that, I won't take the shot. Only complaint with both of these guns is their weight. The R1k has a sling, but can still get heavy after walking 5+ miles through the sagebrush!

Hello to all. This is my first posting here. I'm new to air guns. I've just bought a Benjamin Titan NP .22 cal. and a Crosman TRAIL NP AIR PISTOL .177. I am primarily a traditional bowhunter but I wanted something different for squirrel hunting. I have put a Simmons Aetec 2.8X10 on the Titan and a Field Sport reflex sight on the pistol. I did the trigger mod on the rifle last night and hope to recheck zero on on Wednesday. I would really like to find a trigger mod for the pistol as well. 
I hope to learn more about air gunning from this forum.

Hey guys! My name is Jai Adlakha and I am a 15 year old from India. I like making stuff and am usually found in one of my dad's factories (he is an industrialist) machining, laser cutting and customising things to how i want them. I haven't got a rifle yet but I am planning to pick up a Daystate Wolverine B Hi-Lite from AOA when i go to the states in March. I don't know if there are any other people my age on airgunnation but i hope to become an avid member of this awesome community!

Hello, Jai and welcome to the forum. You are quite the lucky young lad indeed! I will tell you this. If you do get the rifle you are planning to get in March, you will find NOTHING disappointing about it. I purchased the same rifle in .22 from AoA in October of last year. I have been in the firearms sports all of my adult life and just recently took an interest in air gunning. Wish I had taken such an interest when I was your age, but at that time, air guns weren't anywhere near what they are today. I guess I have to say better late than never. The bug bit me hard though. Just ordered the FX Impact in .25. There are so many fine guns...and so little time.

I had AoA mount a Hawke Sidewinder on my Wolverine. That combination will put a pellet in the same hole at 25 yards all day long! You will love the rifle.

Brian Smith here from Tullahoma Tn. 75 yrs old. married to the same girl for 56 yrs. Man I love that girl and glad she has put up with me for all these years.
My first introduction to shooting anything was at Christmas in about 1947. I got a cork gun for Christmas. Man I loved that thing. I was 7 yrs old. It came with 3 corks. I shot and shot and shot. I was able to get good enough to be able to shoot the round decorative bulbs on the Christmas tree, when my mother put a stop to that. It was my first adventure ever with any kind of shooting. I have been hooked ever since. When my cork gun broke (Wonder what that thing would be worth today) I begged and saved pennies for a yr before I got my firsts BB gun. I was in shooters heaven.. smile. Been shooting something ever since. Saw my first air gun in about 1958 when My uncle brought home a pumper in 20 cal. Just in the last 5 yrs I been more interested in modern air rifles. I have had most of the better spring guns. Just thinking about seeing if I can squeeze into PCP out of my SS check. My dear wife say aww just go for it. Did I say man I love that girl?? ;o)

Welcome aboard Brian. I too am Brian but from further south than you [NZ] I started reading your comments and at "pop gun" Christmas tree came to mind. I broke three balls with mine and gave up, picking up and getting rid of the evidence was a real chore. I never got caught.

Do you hunt with air rifles? I have just spent an hour out around the horses, missed the first rabbit but nailed the second two. Now it's home again and shopping comes next. No just groceries and curtain rail brackets. 

You mentioned PCP's and you have the go ahead. You'll love them. Rabbits at long distance is a hoot and my .25 RAW does a splendid job.

I hunt squirrels and some doves. Very tasty. When I was a kid we were very poor and over 1/2 the thing we ate we hunted or caught in some manner or the other. I grew up loving hunting and eating the game. 75 % of my shooting is target and paper punching. Loving air guns. I still laugh about popping the Christmas bulbs. Take care. Friend. First post here. My name is Jude, I'm 42 years old and I'm from Guam, a U.S. Territory island in the Pacific. Like most of you, I grew up shooting Daisy, Crosman, Benjamin, and Sheridan airguns. I've always been into powder burners but my first real airgun I purchased on my own was a RWS 48 in .177cal ordered from Cabela's (Gander Mountain) back in the early 90's. I should have opted for the 22cal model. Back then, when I didn't know any better, I always chased speed and never considered pellet weights or a bigger caliber for taking down critters. I just got drawn in to the high FPS marketing and later realized the pellets used were inaccurate.

I then purchased an RWS 34 TO6 in .22 about 5 years ago, made my own spring compressor and installed a Vortek kit in it. I mounted a Hawke 4-16 scope on it, shot a lot of different pellets through it trying to find what she liked and once I found it, it was still not as accurate. I never liked the reality of having to use the artillery hold on springers to ring out their true potential.

After lurking through the threads on various airgun forums and watching endless videos on Youtube, I've decided to jump in the deep end (aka The Dark Side) and to delve into the realm of PCP airguns. Lord help me! One of the great things Guam has to offer is our dive spots. We have a lot of dive shops throughout the island to get your SCUBA tanks filled. After realizing that most PCP airguns fill past 3000 PSI, I've been looking at SCBA carbon fiber tanks. The only thing is that I have not found anyone that could fill to 4500 PSI except for one of our Fire Stations and the last time I asked my buddy about it, he told me their compressor was down. :(

First thing on my list is a Freedom 8 Shoebox compressor, shop compressor, and a Great White carbon fiber tank from Joe B. It will probably take me a year to purchase them due to financial restraints. After that, the first PCP airgun that I purchase will be any of these in .25cal and in no particular order; FX Wildcat, FX Royale 500, KalibrGun Cricket, Vulcan, or a Daystate Huntsman Regal. I'm curious about the FX Wildcat in .25 synthetic but hopefully all the bugs get worked out after I've purchased my fill support gear. Will be used for 80% hunting. Thanks for having me guys.

Greetings! I am a semi-neophyte to the world of serious air guns, and I finally decided I would like to hear the voices of other devotees of the sport. I got into this hobby because I live in an area with abundant (and often destructive) amounts of small game, and couldn't use a conventional rifle. I have shot many small-caliber powder-burners over the years, and maintain my skills in archery. My current airgun collection amounts to a Gamo Silent Cat (my introduction) and a Hatsan 155 Torpedo Vortex. I would consider myself semi-serious in my quest for the perfect shot (I'm not big on weighing, measuring, chronographs, expensive pellets, or PCP rifles, and a 1/2 inch group is fine at 30 yards), but I do derive a lot of pleasure from this sport. When I am not shooting, I am a career Paramedic (and former English teacher, if you couldn't tell) and amateur carver of tobacco pipes. I look forward to delving deeper into the sport and learning much from those much more technically inclined than myself. Alonsy!
