Well poop...

I'm typing this on my cell so going to try to keep it short. ☺

New wolverine b hi lite .25 just showed up. Wow, gorgeous gun! Can't wait to get to shoot it!

Anyway, Ups dropped it off and I had about 30 mins to pop it open and take a couple test shots before leaving the house. I read the page in the manual to load the magazine just to make sure I didn't bork something. My first red flag was when I pulled the bolt back for the first time it wouldn't stay in the open position. I had to hold it open to insert the magazine. After pushing the bolt forward to load a pellet, I took the safety off, aimed at a spinner, and snugged up to the second stage. Gently squeezed through the second stage and......nothing. Gun won't fire.

Couldn't see anything wrong so I called AOA to see if i was just missing something silly since I've never had a Daystate before. I'm pretty sure Jared answered, I could recognize his voice from the video reviews he makes on YouTube. (I watched his Wolverine review a few times this week waiting for mine haha) He was very nice and as helpful as he could be over the phone. He wanted to make sure i hadn't tried to adjust the trigger and messed something up which I hadn't, I couldn't even shoot the gun once to see how the trigger felt. I totally understand a bit of skepticism since I know they tested the gun and it was fine when they boxed it up. I'm sure people mess their guns up a lot so I understand him asking. Regardless, he's sending me a return label so I don't have to pay for shipping since I didn't even get to fire a single pellet through it.

Anyway I'm not complaining, it'll get sorted out, but I remember someone here posting about a similar problem and was wondering if anyone knew what the issue might be. Gun has air, filed to about 210 bar, safety wasn't engaged, I could clearly feel both stages of the trigger. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd like to reiterate I'm asking for help, not complaining so please don't bother telling me I shouldn't be discussing the issue in public before the dealer has time to sort it out. AOA has always been great for me and they're clearly already taking the steps to get me up and running. I'm just seeking insight anyone might have regarding the matter as a means to learn about it myself.

Thanks in advance!
Cliff

dodge3500Seeing as it's loaded and has air in it,I would see if there is anyway of decocking it or degassing before shipping .that's a very dangerous situation for an unsuspecting delivery guy if it was to discharge.
I would call aoa and see what they say about what to do.
Best of luck

Good call, I'm definitely going to call them to check the proper way to handle this. I won't take the chance of someone getting hurt.

jkingCliff, my Regal is not super easy to cock. Normally I keep the stock against my shoulder for back up when I cycle the bolt on mine. Just wanted to make sure you were getting it all the way back. Probably not the issue but thought i'd throw it out there.

Thanks Jimmy, Jared asked the same thing, I checked that and was pulling on it with a fair amount of force. Enough so that I didn't want to risk pulling harder and damaging something. Thank you for the idea though! Keep em coming! I'm open to all suggestions!

The only time my bolt did not stay back when cocked, was when I was adjusting trigger pull & got it too light. The only way I know to degas it, to ship it back is to turn the gauge a lil to the left and as soon as your hear air leaking let it bleed down. Don't run it too far ( dangerous) . Better ask them though.

I don;t know why everytime I get a PCP it is nearly full. When most people know you are not suppose to ship these things gassed up.

amoxomSounds like the trigger sear is not engaging. Does the bolt go back again afterwards? If so, it is not cocked. Are you sure it was test fired prior to shipping? Did it have a test target?

That's what aoa thought, no trigger sear engagement. They didn't seem to want me to try to adjust it though. ...... The part that confused me is that if it's the sear not engaging, would I still be able to feel both stages of the trigger?

I adjusted & tested that trigger style,

and yes the sheer isn't engaging,

you can't feel the 2nd stage when not cock,

the trigger block has to be remove to adjust one screw to fine tune the sheer engagement that is separate from the 2 screw noted on the manual .

its more complicated then most trigger.

I would think the sheer engagement was set light--when I set mine light when after a refill I wouldn't cock so I had to go back in and adjust again, after several fill it cock fine till it was sold to the new owner.

with my experience the trigger needed to Brake in to be consistent,

love the gun, I just purchased it to gain my experience in tuning her then let it go--lucky owner!!

note;
to degass just unscrew CF bottle.

Cliff. What you describe is just what happens when I do not pull the bolt all the way on my Daystate air ranger. Especially when the pressure is maxed out, the "click" when indexing is hard to get.
I would cock it once again - pull really hard - get the click, and take out the magazine before you fullfill the forward cocking, to avoid dobbel pellet loading.

Cliff I know it is a completely different gun but I had the exact problem you are describing with my Marauder. The gun had just been shipped back to me from Crosman and it just would not fire. A small piece had broken off the trigger mechanism in shipping, Crosman sent me a replacement trigger block which fixed the problem. It sounds like something similar might have happened to your trigger mechanism. I am sure AOA will have it fixed in no time and back to you in good working condition, all the best, Neil.

Thanks everyone for the input! It sounds as though the consensus is that I likely have a trigger sear that is not engaging. Ernest, based on your expertise and opinion that the trigger is a bit more complicated than most I'm not comfortable tinkering with it myself.

I just spoke with AOA again, they're shipping me a new gun today and they sent me a return label to mail the defective one back. I wanted to get another one sent quickly since i have next week off and wanted to play with it then. Great experience with them as always, thank you AOA!
