Hay Zeke, great shot. I'd take down this post. Not to say I'm holier than thou, when I was much younger I'd kill anything that sat still long enough to get a bead on it. The bird appears to be some kind of fly catcher, song bird sss.

I hope not, I don't shoot any birds other than sparrows. There are a few different types in AZ , was pretty sure it was this

Yes, keep an eye on the Fed and State govt lists. Yah might be surprised on the number of protected critters or licensing requirements. Bet that Vulcan in that caliber hits pretty darn hard! I still get the giggles on a .22 14.3 grain HP. Been taking out the next generation of House Sparrows around my place - they haven't figured out when the lead male says lets go, it means lets go right now. He clears out as soon as I crack the door to the backyard and most follow him.

English house sparrows only the rest of them are natives, protected. I try tp shoot starlings, english sparrows, collared doves, pigeons and cowbirds. I know the cowbird is protected by the migratory bird act but I have a hard time with their child rearing habits.
