Tuning Werqing on a shroud for the 600

Werqing on the shroud/moderator for the 600. I decided to try something different and have no support at the very front of the barrel this time. So I would have more volume to quiet things down. Made the adapter out of Delrin and put six set screws in it so I could tune it to be true. I got the runout down to .002-.003 so did pretty well. Still it took me forever to do it. Made the hole a bit large, at the muzzle end, just to make sure no clipping goes on. Thought I was taking a shortcut by not making another part for the barrel muzzle but this ended up being the scenic route instead. Planned on using hot glue, to put it together, but I think that set up time is too short so epoxy it will have to be.

I still have to carve a piece out of the carbon fiber, to match the Delrin adapter, to allow me to remove the piercing cap and insert new co2 carts. Then glue this Frankenstein together and be done with it.

I am really trying not to lose interest in the middle of all this but it is difficult so I figure if I post it it will get finished.

Do you know where I could get a longer barrel for My 600? I see Mac 1 Has 13 inch barrels. But I’m thinking about an 8 inch barrel. There was a seller on eBay that had a few different lengths But not anymore. Their prices were about half Of what Mac 1 wanted.The only reason I didn’t buy one at a time is because I just Got the gun and didn’t want to do any modifications right then.Thinking about some wooden grips later on also.

OK, yeah that seems like my only option because when I first got it, I seen a few places that I could get one.But I looked all over the Internet and Mac 1 is the only one I see now.I’m just trying to get a little more FPS out of it. And I don’t want a real long barrel. And I don’t want to take it apart to upgrade the valve because it was resealed right before I bought it. Thanks

I finally got it finished and can't wait to test it out. But got to wait for the epoxy to harden up good before I do. Hope the glue is good as it is old and pretty thick stuff. Guess I will find out tomorrow. Until then nothin better to do than just sit here and watch the glue dry I guess.

Edit;

I shot it 1:00am today it is quite a bit quieter and just as accurate as it was. Although when I reinstalled the barrel it was a pain to get it adjusted properly. It was jamming on the second shot every time. After many tries I did manage, to get it adjusted properly, with about .005 inch between the barrel and the loading gate. Think it was .003 last time. Only one jam, in over forty shots, and I was able to just re-cock and shoot it out so all is good once again. I ran out of Premiers so had to go to my last tin of Crosman hollowpoints which it seemed to digest properly after the adjustment.

Looking good. The crosman 600 is a very neat airgun and some sound suppression should make it even more fun. Hows the bsa pistol scope?

The BSA scope is very lightweight, inexpensive but only 2X power. Still it is all I really need for short distances, under 15 - 20 yards, and better than open sights for me. It is not parallax free though. So, one must take that into careful consideration when using it and with only 2X power it isn't much good for me past 20 yards or so. I use rifle scopes on my longer range pistols but did not feel the need with this one as yet. But with the accuracy this thing is giving me I may have to seriously consider another scope.

I don't have direct experience with Mac1 with this but I did use a Crosman barrel, cut down to 11 inches, for this project and it is fairly accurate as you can see.

I did my shroud/moderator a bit different to save me from having the barrel any longer than it is. It seems to have werqed out well but it ended up being a bit more werq. Not sure I would do it again.

OK so with very little coaxing from MI_Yeti I figured the scope was in need of replacement. It seems to be accurate enough for more than 10 to 15 yards so needs a better one. I needed something with a little more magnification, an adjustable parallax and preferably a mildot reticle. So, I decided on a nice little Hawke 2x7 rifle scope that was just sitting around and needed a home. It will help me keep the gun in close, where my arms are good for longer periods of time, and with the 2x7 power I can see and shoot further. It's shooting mostly .25 to .35 inch 4 shot groups rested, in my 10 meter basement range using Crosman hollow points, with one pellet opening up the group to .5 to .7. But shooting plenty of one hole 5 shot groups at .25 to .35 inch as well. Probly make a good rat gun it would. It may do a bit better when I get a better pellet.

The basic hawke scopes are pretty solid. I had a 2-7x32ao that I should have kept, and still have a 4x32ao. I should try a rifle scope on one of my crosman pistols for rested shooting. I don't think I could hold it steady free hand, but would at least show how well it can shoot.

I have a center point 2x20 pistol scope and it's junk. The reticle keeps twisting. Had it replaced once already. Only been on a pcp and msp pistol so no recoil. Been using a see all open sight and a basic 4 moa red do sight mostly. Would be nice if a company would make a proper scope for air pistols with long eye relief and adjustable parallax.

Looks like it is shooting well. How pellet picky is the loading mechanism?

Yup you are correct the basic Hawke scopes are good and worth the money. You can do better with the $ though than buying one of the expensive Hawkes though.

I am with you on a AO lightweight pistol scope for sure. I can't believe no one makes one.

The 600 is quite pellet picky and mine did not used to shoot the domed pellets all that well, let alone the hollowpoints, it's kind of crazy. Guess I must have got the barrel adjusted just right. Usually it likes certain wadcutters best and will jam fairly often with the domes and many other wadcutters and just about anything else you try to feed it. Give the right pellet and it will functions flawless. I am in nirvana now with it running so perfect with the hollow points.

Yup there are plenty of accurate pellet pistols around that could use a good pistol scope. Maybe people prefer red dot sights or rifle scopes so there is not much of a market? dunno.

Awesome that you got it to shoot a decent and cheap pellet reliably. Hope you have a lot of co2 carts, I know I'd be burning though em lol

About how many shots do you get per co2 cart?
