Western Airguns Rattler .357

yes the Rattler (and LCS) have bottle systems just like the FX pcp. you can remove or swap bottles just like a paintball marker, but each bottle needs a special connection adapter that has an internal valve.

i wouldn't pay $200 for a bigger bottle. take the 580cc stock and buy another 580cc bottle with the adapter and now you have hot swappable total air of 1160cc. swapping takes less than a minute.
I'm virtually always shooting while tethered to my great white anyway so the bottle size of the gun is mostly irrelevant, but good to consider

shooting at pressure treated 4x4 with round nose solid 166g and 140g hollowpoints.

166g penetrated 1.75" deep and the 140g hollowpoints about 1" deep. these are similar to a 9mm handgun shooting 115g rounds.

Thank you for all the info Unpollo. Have you tried NSA slugs yet? I was thinking of ordering a box of 142gr .357 and a box of 125gr .357 (Nick at Nielsen Specialty Ammo told me he's heard that the 125gr are shooting well).

Cheers!

The 142g slugs are 0.69 length they should work fine. Try them in 356 and 357 size let me know. I don't see the 125g ones on their website. I've got some proslugs 156g coming next. i'm guessing the 150-160g range is sweet spot for power+accuracy. should be getting mid 850fps.

something i saw on Huben K1 is that the magazine tapers ever slightly towards barrel to prevent ammo from accidentally falling into barrel if gun was pointed down. these guns are all based off that so i'm assuming our magazines also taper a little at the end so if you get a slug that fills the entire chamber it is going to be hard to push in because of that taper. that's why i feel 0.65 is the best length.

got the Proslugs comparing to the Apex there is definitely a taper in the magazine towards the barrel to prevent ammo from sliding into barrel pointing down.

proslugs 156g hollow are 0.62 length compared to Apex 0.595 length and i can feel the taper catching on the longer one. the proslugs front is fairly wide so i believe the taper starts around 0.60. i tested putting the proslugs in backwards and they fit fine so it isn't a wide base issue.

if you use longer slugs make sure the front of the slug tapers a good bit to avoid having it catch resistance on the taper in the magazine.

all that said, every ammo i have tested so far shoots great at 20 yards which should be expected.

attaching an image of the longer proslug next to apex ammo.

i believe the ideal bullet shape for hollowpoints would be the Apex with a more rounded tapered nose but in a heavier longer format like the 0.62 and 160g.

NSA 125gr and 142gr en route. I probably won't get to shoot until next weekend, but I will post an update after I see how they perform.
first written review. interesting they were able to squeeze in a 0.79 inch slug either it was tapered perfectly to the magazine or they really pushed it in hard.

any update on your NSA slugs?

Lol at their talk of it having a good hammer spring. Yup, it's so good, it doesn't even have one

Maybe i'm blind but after seeing some youtube videos i cant find out how fast it shoots full auto, is it like Brrrrrrrrrrr as the Hatsan Blitz or more like Bam Bam Bam Bam Bam as in LCS .30?
it's not full-auto only semi-auto. i guess the amount of air needed per shot for 357 caliber was too much to do full-auto
