Western Airguns Rattler .357

My .25 huben does currently have a slow leak, it leaks from 5000 down to around 4600 over a week and seems to either slow down or stop leaking there. Not sure haven't had the time to try to find the leak yet. My .22 has had leaks that I fix, holds air perfectly at the moment.

I think AOA stopped carrying the huben because they thought the lcs was better, but it was lcs that withdrew from them in protest after the rattler release. When I called them I told them they should carry the huben again. The individual I spoke to seemed to think the LCS was more powerful than the huben by a significant margin so I let him know that that isn't really the case, and that my .22 makes 80 FPE and could go higher, and my 25 does 92 FPE. Who knows if they'll pick them up again but for anyone wanting one I can't recommend Kelly over at krazycoolairguns enough.

Dam, just when I thought it was safe to get back on AGN. 😂

Now you guys have me thinking about another Huben! I love my .22 with the walnut stock, but I’m hankering for a .25
Unpollo, your leak doesn’t sound too bad, but I agree, it shouldn’t leak at all. Certainly my Huben holds air perfectly.

Sigh… I guess I will wait a little longer on the Rattler. Hopefully they will work all the bugs out. And since Western Airguns are owned by the same people as AoA maybe they won’t drop them after a year or two.

We are working closely with the Western Rattler design engineer. Upgrading components, orings, fit and finish. AOA is dedicated to the growth quality and performance of the Western rifles. We are excited to see the results so far. The Sidewinder is in testing phase now and we will release results very soon.

Rob.

Well lucky for Kelly that AOA isn’t selling or servicing them anymore. I’m actually waiting for my huben to get back from Kelly. Had a TJ liner and custom mag installed. Kelly (Krazcool Airguns) is a solid guy to deal with.

I’ve heard really good things about Kelly. I bought mine from John at New England Airguns and was very happy, but of course since I haven’t had any problems I’ve really had no further contact 😅

I wouldn’t have contacted him either if I wasn’t searching for a more slug friendly gun. There’s only two or three slugs that fit the stock huben mag(.254). I wanted more options so I went with the custom .250 mag. With slugs being less prone to hoarding and costing the same as pellets I figured it was a good choice for the future.

Where id you get the custom mag? I wasn’t aware that anyone made stuff for the Hubens.

Well I canceled my rattler order. Decided to wait a bit, try and enjoy my others more. Still interested in one at some point. I did order a don cothran 457 pistol though.
apparently they've sold over 900 units and i know of only 3 that people have posted about leaking air. mine was an early build #24 so maybe they've worked out the kinks. i'll detail when i get the unit back in a month they've extended the warranty as well till i get it back working properly.

i don't have many airguns so while the price is very high i see it as several guns in 1, a lower power pellet plinker with 40 shot capacity and a full power slug hunter with 15 shots, all semiauto. the accuracy is very good with pellets and slugs with the 1:26 twist barrel. there really isn't a need for another airgun for me except maybe a lighter option something around 6 pounds. i will probably buy that pump action AEA MAX 6 shot arrow conversion from gogun when it is available that thing looks super fun and lightweight.

It was mostly price that made me cancel rather than leak concerns. I am also not the biggest fan of the appearance of the gun, i am kinda biased against the looks of bottle guns as opposed to tubes. I am still interested in one though
dont know your collection but i'm pretty sure the rattler 357 can replace several of your airguns. sell them and get one!

Believe me the thought did cross my mind. I have a .22 and .25 wood stock huben and I love them both too much to let go. I have a pioneer airbow that I don't use too much but they don't fetch that much money anyway, and an aea challenger bullpup .45 that I kinda like and while not semi auto is still a repeater that is more powerful than a rattler. It also wouldnt fetch much money, theyre only like $700ish new anyway, just like the airbow. Don't really want to part with any of them.

The rattler is the only one that currently interests me though. If huben made a .35 though I'd rather get that as I adore their form
