Western Airguns Western Rattler 357

I am new to the Western Rattler 357.

For the life of me, I can not get it to shoot tight groups! I also have an FX Crown MkII in 25 and I am extremely happy with the accuracy.

I experimented with Nielson slugs from 79 grains up to 125 grains keeping the FPS around the 880 range. I cleaned the barrel yesterday with no improvements with 110 grain slugs. Not sure what to try next. I am new to the PCP airgun game, but I've been shooting center fire rifles for years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!!!

I keep reading that there's less accuracy with pellets and light slugs out of these Rattler's. Try a longer slug. This barrel has a 26-1 twist rate and the 125 gain slugs should be the sweet spot for stability out of the barrel, as it's nearly perfect 1.53. The longer 142 grain slugs shoot great as well. Being a semi auto, you.should experiment with different types of holds and how it likes to rest on a bag or bipod while shootimg.

ok my rattler was horrible I wrote a thread on it up all I did from getting a gun which jammed and shot 3 to 4 inch at 50 yards to now shooting sub Moa @ 100 yards

1.so my 30 cAL WAS JAMMING AND SOMETIMES DUMPING BOTTLE AT JAM , issue with this was the magizine actuator had dirt and lead in it , since day I bought it , cleaned it with break clean and sho air and used super lube ,
2, gun shot 4 inch groups at 50 yards horrible , had 3 issues , one issue was barrel needed to be polished had flaws with bore scope , I polished on lathe and I cut a new crown , this made gun go from 4 inch at 50 yd to 2 inches at 100 yard , my spread was like yours close to 100 , also my reg creeped after I adjusted it , that issue was I removed the regulator it was full of rust , I tumbled them in my ss cartridge

SS pin tumbler then I polished them ,
then The creep was when I tightened regulator some rust got onto the delron seat I cleaned it and since I had it in my hand I resurfaced it , this got my groups 1 moa and my fps spread went from 100 to like 10 fps now , then when I removed mag I measured my 30 cAL MAG IT IS ,300 , MY barrel breech is 301 and my muzzle is ,294 , not very thought out I would of liked mad 300 breech 301 and muxxle 298 to shoot ,300 , so
key is ammo must stay in mag and not be loose in my cals , .2995 is best , I would rather use ,296 due to barrel being so small at muzzle and it is unchoked so it is just a odd size , but now with using ,2995 ammo I can group 90 gr at 3/4 inch and 50s about same , nd 50 to 60a about moa at 100 yd and still tight to 200 , I spent alot of time on mine because it was first one I had and second no info out there , not even a diagram , and company never answered me asking for one , I did order spare reg if it ever goes and I ordered a oring kit just to measure orings to make a list and order in bulk , western isnt very end user friendly like fx taipan epic edgun ect , I was disappointed in lack of support spend close to 3k and not even a diagram , geeze I dont need it now but still , since I posted mine I had alot of people find they had same issues and did what I said and they all had identical problems which now were solved LOU
