Headed out at the range today the sun was out in the beginning but I then the ugly ominous clouds came rolling in and quickly blotted out the once beautiful blue sky. I arrived at the range unloaded the car and the clouds opened up and poured out their wrath but I did not let that stop me. I managed to get a little shooting done at 50 yards with the 2240 and the HW44 before the hailstorms settled in. Actually I kept right on shooting even while the ground was turning white with winds at 2-7mph. I had not yet tested either gun with the JSB 18.2 .22 pellets yet. So I shot a few groups with the 2240, sporting the 14 inch STX barrel liner barrel, turning the hammer spring in one full turn at a time. The groups were disappointing at first to say the least. Then I gave the hammer spring adjuster screw one last turn and... you can see the drastic change from the group on the bottom to the group near the bull. This just goes to show what a few fps can do to your group size. The HW44 was a bit sporadic with these pellets as the target shows. Shooting three or four good shots then one off by quite a bit. I have some tuning yet to do so I will figure it out eventually. It is nasty out and I am a pansy so packed up and went home. I thought the hail being thrown from the sky was going to break my windshield while on the freeway back home so I slowed down quite a bit. Noticed others did the same.
So, I made it home and down in the isolation torture chamber (basement) I put this post together to give you something to read because you don't have anything better to do and so the next few weeks will go by faster. I am such a nice guy. ;^)
